February 20th 1988
Amelia had offered to drive Dom and I to the practice stage where we were being picked up for tour.
"Tell me why I volunteered to do this?" She asks as we drive to the building before the sun had risen.
"Because you're nice." Dom says, stifling a yawn from the backseat. "Your couch is really comfortable by the way."
"Oh it's not mine." Amelia and I say at the same time.
"Who's is it?"
"Chessa I think?" Amelia says questioningly.
"I thought it was yours?" I ask, turning and looking at her.
"I dunno, we got there after Amélie and Chessa did and it was there so.." Amelia trails off, pulling into the parking lot.
"Alright here you guys go. Oh! Amélie wants me to tell you," she pauses looking down at a sticky note in her hand. "Don't die, don't get married or pregnant. Don't get hurt or thrown in jail for manslaughter. Oh and have fun." She looks up and smiles at me.
"Don't plan on any of those happening." I say laughing before hugging her tightly.
"I'm gonna miss you." She says.
"I know, but at least we'll be in the same continent this time, right?" She nods and I get out of the car to get my bag from the trunk. She says something to Dom before he laughs and gets out of the car. He gets his bag and we wave as she drives away.
"She's nice." Dominic comments as we walk over to join Juan and some of the crew who were already there.
"Yeah, she's amazing." I smile slightly before yawning. We sit around as people slowly show up.
"Okay, the buses should be here soon. We have one for dancers and musicians and one for the crew. Put your big luggage under the bus and take your small bag with you in it. We're going to drive in two hour increments, stopping for snacks and to stretch but if everyone can keep going we won't stop. We should get there by tonight. Make sure you have your travel buddy," he pauses glancing at Randy who we had almost left in Sydney because he wanted to see the aquarium in the airport. Everyone laughs as LaVelle grabs Randy's arm and doesn't let go.
"Dance and music team you're on the blue bus, there should be a sign in the front window, crew you have the red bus. If you have any questions ask them now otherwise we'll head out to our first stop on the tour, Kansas City which surprisingly isn't in Kansas." He finishes as the busses pull up.
"Why is it called Kansas city then?" I hear Randy ask as Dom and I put our bags under the bus.
"I don't know and I don't care, now it's too early for me to function so you better shut your pie hole." LaVelle threatens. Dom and I laugh as we make our way into the bus.
"Where do you want to sit?" I ask Dom, pausing in the front of the bus.
"I don't care, just not near Randy." He yawns. I laugh and nod, deciding on a spot in the middle. Everyone slowly makes their way onto the bus, LaVelle reluctantly following Randy who sits a few rows behind us. I feel Dom rest his head on my shoulder as the bus starts to move.
"Wake me up if anything happens." He yawns again. I nod and get my music and headphones out of my bag which was still on my lap.
"Does anybody need the bathroom or to get up and walk around?" Greg asks after a while, standing at the front of the bus.
I look around and everyone seems to be asleep except Randy who's playing a game of some sorts and Jenn who's reading. I shake my head and he nods, sitting back down and talking to the driver. Dom wakes up about 20 minutes later and stretches.
"How long has it been?" He asks, not bothering to check his watch.
"Almost two and a half hours." I say, rubbing my eyes.
"You're tired, take a nap." He says.
"I'm not tired." He just gives me a look and I give up, putting my earphones and music back into my bag, laying down on his nap.
"I'll wake you if anything happens." He says quietly, playing with my hair. I nod before falling asleep.
I bolt upright at the sound of a loud thunderclap.
"Hey it's okay. We're in a storm right now." Dom says instantly in a calming voice. I nod, and look around. Randy had convinced Jenn to play a card game and almost everyone was awake, though LaVelle was still asleep. I nod, moving my hair out of my face before leaning on him, my heart still beating fast.
"How long was I asleep for?"
"Three hours I think?" I nod and we decide to play sticks. A few hours later and we stop in a random town for lunch.
"Be back here in half an hour!" Greg calls after us as we walk out of the bus, looking around.
Dom and I find a sandwich shop and get some to go, grabbing chips for later. We're the first ones back except for Greg who hadn't left.
"Hey you two." He says as we get on, checking something off on his clipboard.
The next few hours pass slowly. Dom and I play games and talk to Randy, Jenn, and LaVelle who looked ready to kill Randy by the time we got to Kansas City.
Juan's bus had gotten there first so we went right up to our rooms. Dom opens the door and holds it open as I follow him in.
"Just our luck huh." He says with a small smile, standing next to me by the bed.
"I guess it's meant to be." I joke. We get food from an American restaurant down the street before falling into the bed.
"We didn't even do anything today, why am I so tired?" He complains as I turn the light off. I laugh quietly, rolling over to face him.
"So now that we're back on tour again..." He trails off.
