ZYN HAYES
I sat off to the side as my family laughed, ate, and joked around.... don't get me wrong, I loved my family, my uncles basically helped raise me, my aunts well they TRIED to keep me in line, my mom was my world, my dad was my best friend, and my twin brother Zach.... though we didn't have the best relationship I knew if it came down to it, he'd have my back. I guess my issue was NEW; new city, new home, new school, new everything; I wasn't good with new.... I've never been one who liked change but the reason I decided to come down here was because I was tired of being part of a set; Twin #2, Thing 2, Baby B, The Other One, The Bad Twin; I wanted to face my biggest issue and that was change. I needed to step away from the twin thing and become my own man. I sat off watching Uncle Tion and Ala'Ven arm wrestle, I watched my aunts and my mom whispering and laughing, I watched my Uncle Zaire, Uncle Dallas, and my dad fawn over Zach and why shouldn't they that dude was everything... any award you could get in school he got it and now he'd be going to play football for some HBCU (don't ask me which one because I didn't bother finding out). Then I noticed my Uncle Seven and I decided to go talk to him because he was one of the only people in this family I could speak openly with.... well him and Uncle Tion, everyone else treated me like I was a lost cause.
"Wassup man, I've been meaning to talk to yo ass.... wassup with you coming in a six in the morning?" Uncle Seven asked and unlike everyone else, he genuinely seemed interested in what I was doing that night and not because he wanted to scold me, but because he probably wanted to see if I had picked up some of his traits... everyone always compared me to Uncle Seven and little did they know we had more in common than they realized.
"Went to this party at one of my boys, we ended up getting a little too fucked up, and to be safe I decided it was best if I just crashed over there." I said shrugging, while also leaving out a few key details. Uncle Seve continued staring at me as if he were trying to force the truth outta me.... there were only two people that could successfully pull that off, my mom and Uncle Seven. "Plus there was the threesome." I whispered and Uncle Seven's eyes got big.
"Threesome.... man what the fuck, how the fuck did you have a threesome before me? This some straight-up bullshyt." He said and I found it extremely hard to believe that he's ever had a threesome, I've heard stories about his wild ass so he was either lying or Uncle Tyson had him on a tight leash.
"Maybe I just got a way with words.... but shyt just happened out of nowhere, we were chillin and next thing I knew they were suckin me up and I didn't exactly stop them." I said remembering that night vividly. "That took up most of the night and I was already out past curfew so I didn't see a point in stopping when I was already in trouble." I said shrugging.
"I can't tell you how many times I got in trouble for sneaking in past curfew, I'm pretty sure I still got marks on the back of my neck from when my mom would catch me. Though in my defense, Tyson lived across town and the buses stopped running at a certain time.... and Dally tended to be stingy as fuck with his car.
"Yeah, Uncle Dallas is a dick...." I said and Uncle Seven smirked. "I'm serious though... it was fun while it lasted but now I'm going to be focused solely on basketball, I'm not going to have time for anything else, you know if my grades start to slip my mama will fly down here and put her foot in my ass in front of my whole team and her definition of slipping is anything lower than a 'B' so I'm definitely going to need to focus." I said looking at my mom and dad who were locked in combat over the proper way to make macaroni, honestly pops needed to sit this one out because my mom had him beat but if you were to ask my brother he'd say the opposite.
"Aight, time to get into uncle mode.... when you get to college, the distractions are plentiful; I mean there will be women throwing themselves at you everywhere you turn, you're an athlete so fraternities are going to be pursuing you all over campus. Now, me and your uncles weren't the fraternity type but your dad....." Uncle Seven said looking at my dad who despite it being summer in Texas was wearing a 1911 sweatshirt. "I'm pretty sure he wants you and Zach to both become Kappas." Uncle Seven said.
