I just wanted to go home and fuck... like slut a nigga out, smoke a blunt, and take my ass to sleep for like a week. I called Qasim and just like I hoped he already had someone lined up, I tried calling Karmelo but he wasn't picking up or responding to my text, he was probably busy but now he was missing out on getting dicked. This trip was A LOT, my dad promised that he'd be in Houston to help me get settled in and if I was being honest, I needed a break from being around him because since Zach outed me... well, my dad has been treating me like I was a piece of glass that was sitting on the edge of an abyss. I think he was still processing what had taken place and some separation will help him figure some things out. Zach on the other hand, I was done with him we literally didn't have to speak to each other ever again, he just didn't get it and I still didn't know what I did to make him hate me... now I was pissed because I was blaming myself for his actions. I got off the plane and when I got to the baggage claim, I looked around for Qasim, I didn't have any bags but this is where we were supposed to meet. I was about to call him when I noticed Qasim standing with my mom and Uncle Seven, great this was the last thing I needed at the moment, I was already emotionally drained, and being around my mom.... I wasn't ready.
"Hey.... umm, gimme a second." I said pulling Qasim to the side and leaving my mom with Uncle Seven. "Damn, nigga you couldn't have given me a heads up?" I asked glancing over in my mom's direction.
"Ayy they literally popped up about two minutes before you came down and I didn't have a chance because your mom started asking questions about what I was doing here and if I knew why you flew out to D.C. in the first place... I don't like lying to her because she's kinda scary... in a sexy way." Qasim said smiling at my mom who was watching us closely.
"Fuck... I really don't wanna talk to her just yet, you think it would be possible for us to sneak outta here without them noticing?" I asked.
"Possibly... don't you gotta get your bag?" Qasim asked.
"Nah everything I pack is in this bookbag, I wasn't planning on staying out there that long so I didn't see a point in packing a larger bag. Aight so go get your car and...." I felt a presence standing over my shoulder and any plans I had of making an escape ended right there. I agreed to link with Qasim a little later and left with my mom and uncle.
"Zyn, why were you fighting Errol?" My mom asked I knew I had to choose my words carefully because one slip-up and she'd try to drag me back to Ohio.
"I found him to be extremely disrespectful, a very rude man who needed to be taught a lesson... I didn't think it was that big of a deal, you really didn't have to fly down here. Besides, ain't summer the busiest time for weddings and parties... you shouldn't be missing work, especially not for me." I said and I noticed Uncle Seven watching me through the mirror, he was definitely going to want the REAL story.
"Your ass needs to be in them damn books not down here fighting Zyn..." My mom chided and I tried not to smile, so far this was going great, now I just needed to make it the rest of the drive without her mentioning.... "Now what's going on with you and Zach?" She asked.
"You know how it is... sometimes brothers fight." I said shrugging. "I'm sure you've seen your fair share of battles between all my uncles... we'll get past this little rift eventually." I said wanting to end this subject as soon as possible.
"True, especially Seven and Dallas..." My mom said and Uncle Seven started laughing. Now if I was petty, I'd expose the fact that Zach had a kid on the way but unlike him, I wasn't the type to put his business out there not even to our parents. "I'm hungry... and would like to have a meal with my son." My mom said once we arrived at Uncle Tion's.
"Zakiya, actually I was hoping...." Uncle Seven started and the next thing I knew he was handing her the keys to his car. "Zyn, when you get back, we wanna talk to you." Uncle Seven said and wanted to know who 'we' was but I nodded and followed my mom back to Uncle Seven's car.
