I was having a fuckin blast, Ra'Quise fell into my friend group so naturally that it seemed like he had always been there; honestly, everyone instantly loved him. He was funny as fuck, smart as hell, but the thing that really got me was his competitiveness. Fernando wanted to be a chef, cooking was his passion, Ra'Quise mentioned something about cooking and somehow we all ended up over Nando's house watching those two have a cooking competition. Nando's mom was pissed until she tasted the chicken and waffles that Ra'Quise made, I know I hadn't known them long but Nando's mom loved me from the moment she met me... all that went out the window when Ra'Quise came in and now she was OBSESSED with him. Not gonna lie I was kinda obsessed too... he was just..... like I said, I was having a blast but there was something that was really fuckin bothering me; I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being followed.... Maybe I was trippin but in my heart, I knew something was up, I knew that the car I had seen at the mall was the same one that was following me when I was downtown with Ra'Quise, and the one I saw when we were sitting in the park simply talking. I recognized that car, it was Ajani's car but when I called Karmelo to ask him he swore up and down that it wasn't them.... funny how he refused to get on FaceTime with me though.
"Yo chill....." I said watching Ra'Quise and Titan wrestle around the living room, Ra'Quise had a friendly rivalry with Fernando... but he instantly connected with two people Titan and Hosea who had started coming around more often. I had intended on staying at the hotel but Uncle Tion insisted on having a BBQ which is what led us back over here. "Man break them up..." I said but I knew that was pointless because they were taking bets on who would win.
"Zyn... come help me." Uncle Tion said sticking his head in the door of the guesthouse. I looked at Ra'Quise and Titan on last time before following Uncle Tion out the door. "I should probably warn you in advance... Your mom and aunts are coming down here in a week or two, Taryn misses me and wants to come visit... though she can't miss me that much because when I asked her if she was staying she quickly told me no." Uncle Tion said and I knew he was missing his kids, but I was happy they were gone... TJ had a smart ass mouth and I couldn't be around Taryn's fast ass little friends.
"Thanks for the heads up.... Though now I'm considering skipping this lil BBQ because if my mama is coming down here I'm expecting her to cook and I know she's going to show her entire ass in the kitchen if I look like I haven't been eating." I said as my stomach started growling.
"Man Zakiya can throw down in the kitchen... though she doesn't have shyt on my mama..... So that's your friend that was wrestling with Titan?" Uncle Tion asked as we started moving the bags of groceries out of the car.
"Yeah... Ra'Quise is coo as fuck, but we're just friends... so you can stop giving me that goofy ass smile." I said blushing because he was giving me a look like he knew more than I did.
"I didn't say shyt... but I think you should talk to Devin and Blaze, that's all I'm going to say on that matter." Uncle Tion said shaking his head. We brought all the groceries inside where Uncle La was sitting off to the side talking on the phone. "How long before the people get here?" Uncle Tion asked, I don't know why they insisted on hiring people to cook but it wasn't my money so I couldn't say shyt.
"They'll be here in an hour or so... since we got a house full of teenagers we can put their asses to work." Uncle La said and I knew that was my cue to get the fuck up outta there because when he said it I knew he meant it.
"Ayy y'all trying to ball?" I asked, it had been a little minute since I played basketball and I was feenin.... We all loaded up into two separate cars and drove to the park by Qasim's house since it wasn't too far from Uncle Tion's. When we pulled up there was already a group of dudes playing and I felt a sense of unease because even from this distance I could instantly recognize Karmelo's ass.
