Protector ch.29 (the end)

      No. No. My daughter isn't dead. She was kicking before. I could feel her happiness. She isn't dead. Misaki took her daughter's body out of Olive's reluctant arms and held it close. The baby's body was cold and still. I did not give birth to my dead daughter. She's alive. She's alive. Olive came closer. "Misaki, you shouldn't hold it--" "DON'T TOUCH HER!!!" Olive flinched back and Roku came closer. Misaki allowed his hand to cup the girl's face. The girl didn't move. She didn't respond to either of them. Roku's head dropped to Misaki's neck and Misaki felt his tears run down her shoulder. "Misaki." His hands reached between the girl and Misaki's arms. "You have to..." His voice cracked. "No. I won't. I won't let go of her. She's alive. She's alive. I know she is." His voice cracked again as he repeateded her name. "You toss and turn at night... There is tension in your arms. Surely you, are weary of your daily battle. Mmm..." Please respond. Please breathe. Please open your eyes. "This soft, feeling. When I see your sleep... Sleeping face. So I'll sing. Goodnight... Goodnight, goodnight-- this song... My gift to you... Akane's lullaby." Misaki shut her eyes and let her hot tears drop. She forced a smile onto her face and continued to sing to her dead daughter's body. She gently rocked back and forth as her voice gently echoed through the death silence of the room. "If I appear, in your dreams... Could I be, that precious to you? If that's the case, I should be nicer to you.... Mmmm...I know... It isn't so. But tonight, it's alright. So I'll sing. Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight ~ this song, my gift to you. My lullaby... So I'll sing... Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight ~ this song, my gift to you. My lullaby--" "Misaki!" Misaki's eyes shot open and she spotted her own eyes looking back at her. The girls cheeks were a bright and lively red. She was breathing heavily and her chest was rising up and down, as if she had held her breath for too long. Her sweet cough sent everybody panicking. The women packed towels against the doors and Olive fed the fire that kept the boiling water evaporating. The room increased in warmth as Roku and Misaki fussed over their daughter. Roku kissed the girl's forehead, then his lips came to Misaki's and they kissed deeply. All of their faces were red with pure joy and they laughed. The girl began to cry as Roku and Misaki clung to each other and their baby. "She's alive! She's alive!" Roku and Misaki hugged again and the girl screamed sweetly in frustration. Misaki laughed and seperated from Roku, smiling down at the baby. "Roku, what's going to be her name?" "Mina." "Mina?" "It means 'protector'" Misaki smiled and looked down at the girl. "Mina." The girl looked up from her thumb and stared into Misaki's eyes. Then she looked back at Roku and smiled. She cooed sweetly and stared at Roku in confusion. Roku smiled at her and her tiny mouth twitched into a smile. "I told you Roku. Everything will be perfect. And now it is." Roku nuzzled her neck. "Yes. Yes it is." The door was opened and Misaki didn't feel the cold any longer. Mina smiled at looked around at all the new faces smiling down at her. "Beautiful" "protector" "so cute!" "Amazing!" "We must celebrate!" Mina cooed again and everybody awed. Misaki began to sing. "You toss and turn at night, there is tension in your arms... Surely you, are weary of your daily battle. Mmmm...." Everybody smiled and they sang along joyfully. "This soft, feeling, when I see... Your sleeping face. So I'll sing, goodnight, goodnight, goodnight ~ this song, my gift to you. Misaki's lullaby." Mina's cheeks pinked as her eyes drooped sleepily. A small smile curled at her pink lips and she leaned into Roku's hand at her cheek. "If I should appear in your dreams, could I be, that precious to you? If that's the case, I should be nicer to you. Mmm... I know, it isn't so, but tonight... It's alright. So I'll sing, goodnight, goodnight, goodnight ~ this song, my gift to you. Mina's lullaby..."

So, that's basically the end of Misaki's and Roku's adventure. The end, happy ever after, and blah blah blah. However, as you guys must know, Mina isn't exactly normal. Actually, she's anything but normal. So my next story will follow her around in her adventure. Her love interest isn't going to be very predictable either. I'll just say, remember all characters. Because I guarantee that they will reappear in Mina's story. The title will be "I'm Still Human." And will have another one of my drawings as the cover.
