"Misaki, why is it that whenever you and Roku leave, you always come back injured?" Olive growled at Misaki while she bandaged the cut on her forehead. "Hey, My skin and bones aren't as strong as everybody else's you know. And i don't have wings or claws." Olive sighed, finishing the bandage and walking outside. After Olive walked outside, Roku came in. He sat down on the grass bed in front of Misaki and leaned closer. He ran his fingers over the bandage and Misaki blushed. "I'm okay you know. It's just a scratch." He looked down at her. He sighed and flicked her forehead, not flicking the injured side. "Ow! What was that for?" "For smiling at me, making me think that you were fine." "I was fine. I told you, it was just a scratch." He frowned at her. " I don't care if it was just a scratch. You were injured and you basically told me to go to the girl first. Who, FYI, wasn't injured." "Where is she? Is she okay??" Roku rolled his eyes. "I just told you that she wasn't injured and you are, yet you ask if she's okay?" "Just answer the question Roku" he stood up and pointed to the curtain that led out of the nurse. "She's waiting outside. She keeps asking if you're okay and refuses to go away." Misaki stood up from her bed and walked outside. She found the girl there. She was sitting on the ground hunched over, holding her chin in her hands. The girl caught sight of Misaki and stood up. She hugged her tightly and said nothing. Misaki hugged her back. "Are you okay?" The girl let out a small laugh. "Why are you asking me if I'm okay? Are you okay?" "I'm fine." Misaki smiled, separating from the girl. "Come, I'll introduce you to everybody." They walked to the garden and when they turned the corner, Olive's and Gorru's faces were centimeters from each other. They jumped back and their faces went red. Olive spoke up, stuttering in every word, as she usually did when she was nervous. "I-its n-n-not w-what i-it l-looks l-l-like!" Gorru sat on the ground next to her, his face red, but his eyes were gleaming happily. A smile twitched at Misaki's mouth. The girl stood next to Misaki with her lips forming into a perfect o shape. "Olive..Gorru. This is..." Misaki turned to the girl. Wait, I don't even know this girl's name. The girl smiled. "My name is Hail." "Hail? Like the frozen rain hail?" The girl nodded. "After the bombs went off that day, I lost my memory and the people who were taking care of me found me around mounds of hail, so they nicknamed me Hail, and it just stuck." Misaki nodded. Olive stood up, reaching her hand out to Hail. "Nice to meet you." Hail smiled. "You too." Gorru stood, smiled, and quickly shook Hail's hand. Then he grabbed Olive's

hand and walked away, dragging Olive behind him. Hail smiled. "Well they seem to get along." "They've been like that since the day they met." Misaki and Hail giggled as they walked back to the cave. When somebody blocked their way. Misaki looked up at the tall figure. It was a tall guy that had bright yellow eyes and short black hair. A shiver ran down Misaki's back and Hail grabbed Misaki's hand tightly when the guy's mouth curled into a smile and a sharp fang gleamed at them. He's the vampire that arrived weeks ago. "So, who's this?" His eyes shifted to Hail, then back to Misaki. "I mean I know who you are, and I definitely know who your vampire is. But who's this?" Misaki clutched onto Hail's hand tighter. "She's Hail. My friend." "I see." He stared at Hail's neck. Hail's hand went cold. "Don't worry Hail. He won't attack us." His eyes looked back at Misaki. His face came closer. "You mean I won't attack you." Misaki glared at him. "You won't attack her." "So whom will I attack, you?" "If that's what it takes." Hail turned to Misaki, her mouth opened with shock. "Misaki!" Misaki ignored her "You will not be attacking Hail! If there's anyone you'll attack, its me!" Misaki noticed the look in the vampire's eyes change. He wasn't looking at Misaki or Hail, and he even took a few steps away. Misaki looked to where he was looking and froze. Roku looked taller than he had ever seemed before as he stood next to them. His violet eyes glared down at Misaki cruelly and Misaki shivered. "R-roku... How long have you been standing there?" His voice was deep and cold. "Enough." He grabbed Misaki's arm and pulled her to the cave. "Roku, let go of me!" He ignored her and dragged her to the cave, with Hail slowly following behind. Roku stepped inside the nurse and threw Misaki in as well, leaving Hail outside. He turned to her, his eyes fierce and angry. "Misaki I'm going to turn her into a vampire." "Huh!? No you're not!" "Then stop putting your safety behind hers!" "If I can avoid her turning into a vampire, I will! So don't you dare tell me not to!" "Misaki, you need to stop putting yourself in danger for her! You're only human!" "So is she! And I don't care what you say, I will protect her! You out of all people should understand, You're the one who's always saving me!" Roku ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. "Misaki, I'm a vampire! And you're my human, of course I'm going to save you!" "It's humanity that I'm saving Roku! We need as much humans as we can have!" Roku came closer, making Misaki's back bump against the wall behind them. "Misaki, I don't give a shit about humanity surviving." Misaki's eyes widened. "What I do care about is you surviving!" Misaki felt the heat creeping onto her cheeks, but she focused on her anger. "Well you should care about humanity!" "Why?" His face came dangerously close to Misaki's. "I've got my human right here." The heat threatened to rise in her cheeks again. "Stop that." "What?" She gulped down the heat and glared at him. "Stop calling me your human. That ended when the school burnt down." "Oh? So you're saying that I don't have the responsibility of protecting you anymore?" His voice was angry and seemed to be daring Misaki to agree. "I never asked you to protect me. I don't see why you are." There was silence. Then his voice went colder. "Fine. I won't protect you anymore. It was too much of a pain anyway." A cold lump formed in Misaki's throat as he stepped back, heading for the exit. He stopped at the door. Almost as if expecting Misaki to scream "don't go" and run into his arms yelling and pleading for him to forgive her. No way. No way am I going to apologize. He can go screw himself. Roku glanced her way, then turned back and left. The curtain that was acting as a door closed and Misaki looked down at the ground. Screw him. I don't need him. I....I can protect myself. Misaki sighed. Who am I kidding? I do need him. But... I'm not going to apologize. He should be able to understand me. We need humans to survive. Misaki remembered his words. "I don't give a shit about humanity surviving." Her heart stung at those words and she looked back at the exit. Fuck you Roku. Fuck you.
