The Reunion ch.16

      The woman continued to pretend to be Hail. She would sneer at Roku whenever they were alone, but smile and giggle when somebody else was present. Everybody was back to normal and Olive would ask Roku why he isn't it searching for Misaki. But he would have to respond with "I don't have anywhere to start." And Olive would stomp away, trying to search for Misaki herself. Then one afternoon, Roku overheard the woman arguing to somebody over a phone. "How did that happen!? You idiot!..... What!? How could you let that happen, you're a shape shifter!!...." She sighed. "Its fine. It already happened and he doesn't have to know... Okay..... Okay.. Bye." The woman turned around and Roku pretended to have just arrived. She stared at him for a second, but then walked away. Roku began to think to himself. Something happened with Misaki. She might've escaped, but she could've died. He shuddered at the thought. No. She escaped. She was yelling at the person saying that he was a shape shifter and how he could've let it happen. She wouldn't tell him he was a shadow shifter so proudly if he let her die. He continued walking to the lake with a bucket. She's alive. And she escaped. But I can't let the woman know that I know. A cool breeze blew across his face and he froze. He looked up and his eyes widened. Her black hair blew across her wet face. Her cheeks were red and her eyes a bright powerful green. She wore a big smile that Roku had never seen before and she was approaching quickly, yelling "Roku!!!". Both fear and happiness pounded in Roku's heart. He sprinted to her, for if he could smell her, so could the woman. But he was too late. The woman sprinted ahead of him and ran to Misaki, her body morphing back into her original form as she ran. Roku's heart drummed coldly in his chest as the woman's claws lunged for Misaki's neck. "No!!! Misaki!!!!" Misaki seemed to freeze at the sight of her once best friend shape into a monster and lunge at her neck with three inch black claws. The claws pricked the center of Misaki's neck before she was jerked back. She fell into the arms of a guy that Roku didn't recognize and the guy burst into the air, dodging the claws that were about to kill Misaki. All of them were now in the air, flying after each other. The woman immediately came face to face with Misaki and the guy and her claws tried to reach Misaki once again. But the guy twisted and the claws ripped into the guy's shoulder. Roku spotted the guy glance down at him with yellow eyes and nod. Misaki was let go. She fell through the air and her green eyes turned to Roku. His arms spread out for her, and so did hers. She fell straight into his arms and his heart pounded in his chest. She twisted around and wrapped her tiny body around Roku. His big arms

circled around her body and she clawed at his back. Her tears ran down her cheeks continually as she screamed out his name. He screamed out hers and kissed the top of her head. Then he landed. He peeled her body off of him and dumped her on the ground. Misaki understood why, but it still hurt a bit. He kissed her forehead, then set off to the sky. "Be careful Roku!! Don't hurt Mike!" Roku disappeared and Misaki knew what she had to do. I don't know who that was that was disguised as Hail, but I need to protect myself from her. She ran to the cave, but her ankle twisted again and she fell to the ground. Shit shit shit! What do I do!? She looked around frantically. I can't call for anybody, or else they'll be in danger too! I'm on my own here. There's no other choice other than sucking it up. She grit her teeth and pushed her body up. Her ankles pulsed in pain but she limped over to a hole in the ground. It looked like it was supposed to be a trap for any raccoon or bunny walking by. She scooted into the three feet deep hole and threw dirt, mud, rocks, and grass over herself. As soon as she was sure she looked like normal ground, she stayed quiet and listened intently.

       All of the three people in the sky fell to the ground. Mike fell in his own puddle of blood that came from his shoulder. Roku rolled around the floor with the evil woman bleeding from her chest and neck. "Leave us alone!! You will not be touching Misaki again!! Not you or your husband!!!" She grunted angrily and yelled out "Scar!!!" Repeatedly. Then Roku was kicked off of the woman. It was the man. He picked the woman up off the floor and took off, leaving Roku and Mike on the floor. Roku turned to Mike. He hauled him up onto his feet and wrapped his uninjured arm over his shoulders. Mike smiled. "Well you seem like a nice enough guy for Misaki." "Huh? Guy for Misaki? Look, I don't know who you are, but thanks for rescuing Misaki back there." They began to walk. Roku looked around. "Misaki should be around here somewhere." "I'm going to marry her." Roku froze. He dropped Mike to the floor and he fell with a simple "oof". "What did you just say?" Then before Mike could answer, a piece of ground moved and Roku caught Misaki's scent. He left Mike on the ground and walked over to the now uncovered Misaki. She spotted him and her cheeks went red again. She reached up for him and he pulled her up out of the hole. She wrapped herself around him again and buried her face in his chest. "Roku." He caressed her hair. "Misaki." She remembered the argument they had before they were separated. "I'm sorry Roku. I'm sorry for the things I said." "I'm sorry I left." Then she remembered Mike. "Where is.." She saw Mike on the ground, sitting up and holding his bleeding shoulder. She tried to stand up but flinched when her ankle touched the ground. Roku noticed and scooped her up again. He walked over to Mike and let her down in front of Mike. She crawled over to Mike and looked at his shoulder. "Mike, are you okay?" He looked at her and smiled. "You injured yourself again Misaki." "Hey, answer the question." "I'll live." Misaki nodded an he turned to Roku. "Are you okay?" Roku nodded. "Just a few scratches." "Okay, let's go to the cave." Roku glared at Mike but still helped him up. Once Mike was stably standing next to Roku, Roku scooped Misaki up off the ground and started walking to the cave. Everything will be perfect. Roku glared at Mike, and Mike glared back.
