Demi

"Are you okay?" once I heard his voice, I remembered where I was. I pulled my face from my arms and quickly wiped at my cheeks, keeping my face away from him.

"I'm fine."

"You sure?"

"Yes" I turned to him and my heart sort of fluttered at the concern in his eyes. "How did I do?" I managed to pull my eyes from his and nodded down at the piece of paper he had been marking.

"Not too good" I sighed my frustration.

"I'm never going to pass these exams."

"Yes, you are. You've just got to believe in yourself, Demi" I sighed, my fingers running through my hair. "Maybe we should call it a day. I can see that you're not with it" I shook my head. I don't want to be alone. I don't want him to leave.

"Are you hungry? I'm hungry" his eyes flashed slightly with surprise.

"I-I suppose I could eat" my lips twitched into a smile.

"I think we have a frozen pizza, that sound good?" I pushed myself off the stool and headed towards the refrigerator.

"Sounds good" I rummaged through the freezer and pulled out the pizza. I placed it into the oven and then set the timer.

"So, I have a serious question" I can't believe how easy it is talking to Odell. I never in my whole high school life, thought I'd feel a friendship growing with someone that's labelled as a nerd. "Does pineapple go on pizza?"

"No, that's shit nasty."

"Yes" I held my hand up which he high-fived. I felt my cheeks heating up. What the fuck? Why does he make me feel like this? Why is he making me feel like a little girl with a crush? "So, what do you want to do when we leave high school?" I nibbled down on my nail as I leant on the counter and watched him, every little thing he did strangely amazed me.

"I want to do something with kids. I'm thinking of going into being an elementary school teacher" he leant on the counter and my eyes danced to his biceps. I quickly glanced away and swallowed hard as I felt my body beginning to tingle in places it never has.

"You'll be good at that. You're a good teacher, you have a lot of patience" he lightly laughed. I bit down on my lower lip and smiled at the sound. He has an amazing laugh.

"What about you?"

"I don't know" I shrugged. "I've never really given it much thought. Until recently I thought life revolved around high school and parties."

"Is there not anything you're interested in?"

"Well, I like to dance. I used to dance for a team when I was younger but then high school kind of happened and life got in the way and then I stopped going" I glanced down at my hands as I twiddled with my fingers. "I wouldn't mind getting back into that but I kind of still need the grades" I glanced back up at him as he nodded.

"You'll get the grades. We just need to keep working on your math. You've just got to be positive about it all, Demi" I nodded, my heart fluttering as he flashed me a smile.

"If you could have one superpower, what would it be?"

"I think I'd like to be able to fly or read people's minds, that'd be awesome."

"Read people's minds?" he nodded with a chuckle. "Okay, so you may not have it, but take a guess, what would my superpower be?" I bit down on my lower lip and giggled as he stared intently at me with a smirk spread across his face. I could feel my knees weakening the longer that he stared into my eyes. I had to practically hold myself up using the counter.

"You'd either want to teleport or be invisible."

"Why teleport?"

"Because you're always late for shit" my mouth dropped open as I gasped.

"No, I am not" he chuckled as I lightly hit him on the arm. I pursed my lips and crossed my arms over my chest, trying to make myself look annoyed but it was difficult as he just laughed. "I think I'd enjoy being invisible. You could just sneak in on people and they wouldn't even know."

"You're an interesting one, Lovato."

"Is that a compliment or an insult?" my eyes narrowed in on him as he chuckled.

"I haven't decided yet" I rolled my eyes and went to playfully argue back but the alarm went on my phone. I turned it off and then headed for the oven. I pulled out the pizza, that was thankfully finished and cut it into slices. I slid it onto a plate and then placed it onto the counter in front of Odell. I took a seat beside him and grabbed a slice. "What's your favourite movie?"

"I like horrors. Have you seen the new IT?"

"No, I can't say I'm a fan of horror" he shook his head.

"Well, that is going to change. I think we should watch it" his eyes widened as I giggled and he began to rapidly shake his head.

"No."

"Please?" my lips formed a pout and I made my best puppy dog face. No one has ever been able to resist the face. His eyes burnt into mine for a moment and I swear I felt myself falling. "I'll protect you from the big and bad clown" he lightly laughed. He shook his head and glanced down at the pizza.

"Fine" my mouth twitched into a smile of victory.

"Come on. We can go into the living room. My dad isn't here so he won't shoot me for eating in there" I grabbed the plate of pizza and my drink and then I headed into the living room. Odell followed behind me. I lowered the pizza onto the coffee table and then dropped down onto the couch. He sat beside me, there was plenty of room between us but I still felt all tingly at the closeness. I grabbed the blanket off the back and threw it over my legs. I grabbed the controller and switched on the tv, flicking through it until I found IT. I laughed as I glanced to Odell who looked shit scared. "You want me to protect you?" I just laughed louder as his eyes rolled.
