Demi
I headed straight for my locker as I stepped into school. It's Monday morning and I had, what I can only describe, as the most amazing weekend. Odell and I spent it together, chilling at my house. We had the occasional make-out session between our study sessions. We're not exclusive yet, the thought of that terrifies me a little but I enjoy kissing him, it makes me feel like jello, my insides quiver and I can't seem to concentrate.
"Hi Babe" I jumped at Marissa's loud voice. She had a huge ass smile spread across her face which confused me slightly.
"Hey Riss. You okay?"
"So, tell me about your weekend?" I rolled my eyes but I could feel my cheeks heating up at the memory. She squealed and began to bounce on the spot, attracting the attention of everyone around us. Why do I have to have such an embarrassing best friend? "Did you finally kiss him?" she whispered but there was still eyes on us and for some reason, I was fearful that they would hear this conversation and know who we were talking about.
"I'm not having this conversation here, Riss."
"Why not?" her eyebrows raised. I sighed as I glanced around the corridor. People glanced away quickly as my eyes locked on them. "Please tell me that you don't still care about what everyone else thinks?" I shrugged my shoulders as I glanced back into my locker. "Fuck what everyone else thinks. If he makes you happy then that's all that matters" I pulled out a notebook that I would need for today.
"I'm scared."
"Scared about what?" I released a sigh as I closed my locker.
"I've never felt like this for anyone. He-He makes me feel all..." I cut myself off as Nick headed down the corridor. He still had a bruise on his cheek and his eye still looked a little swollen. The sight of him though, made my stomach bubble with anger. He cheated on me and not just that, he got her pregnant too.
"Ignore him" Marissa tugged on my arm but my gaze still remained locked on Nick. His eyes locked with mine and he headed straight for me. He looked pissed.
"When you next see your boyfriend, let him know that I want to see him" I briefly glanced to Marissa who was watching Nick with slightly wide eyes.
"He isn't my boyfriend" Nick just laughed. "He isn't. He's helping me to pass my exams, that's it."
"Yeah, because why would you care about someone like him, huh?" I bit down on my lower lip.
"Exactly" I just wanted him to fuck off.
"Demi" I glanced to Marissa who was staring at me with wide eyes. She glanced over my shoulder once she realised that she had grabbed my attention. My eyebrows furrowed together as I slowly turned and my heart dropped into my stomach as my eyes landed on Odell. He looked at me like I'd just shot him. I went to speak but Nick laughing cut me off. He knew exactly what he was doing when he asked me that. He knew that Odell was stood behind us, close enough to hear our conversation. I stumbled slightly as Nick pushed past me and headed down the corridor, continuing to laugh. I turned back to try and find Odell but found that he was no longer where he was. Obviously, Demetria. Do you really still think he'll be hanging around? You've just blew every chance you had with him. I turned back to Marissa who was staring at me with a face that read 'what the fuck did you just do?' I shook my head and glanced down at the floor.
"Please don't start."
"Are you not going to try and find him?"
"Should I?" I glanced back up at Marissa who rolled her eyes.
"Yes" I released a sigh and then glanced back to where Odell was. "I'll cover for you, okay? Just go and find him" I glanced back at Marissa who gave me a brief smile. I adjusted my purse strap over my shoulder and then headed in the direction that Odell had ran off in according to Marissa. I felt like I was wondering around the entire school until I noticed him walking out of the male restroom.
"Odell?" I called out; my voice as strong as it could be. He glanced to me and rolled his eyes, he turned to head off down the corridor but I managed to catch a hold of his wrist. "Can we talk?" he turned back to me with a sigh. I could see the hurt in his eyes even as they avoided mine and it made my heart hurt. "I'm sorry for what I said. I-I didn't know you were there."
"And that makes it okay?"
"No" I glanced down at my hand around his wrist. I'm surprised he hadn't pried my hand off him yet. Our eyes remained locked and the longer his eyes burnt into mine, the more my heart ached. You shouldn't have said that Demetria. The sound of the school bell signalled for the start of school.
"I need to get to home room."
"No, I..." he pulled his hand from my grip.
"You need to figure out what you want, Demi. I can't keep getting my hopes up. I like you, but it seems that you have some things you need to figure out first. Maybe we should take a break from everything" I wanted to argue but I couldn't get it out because the ache in my heart was too severe. The backs of my eyes pricked with tears as I watched him walk away from me. It wasn't until he had completely disappeared that I realised we had an audience the entire time.
"Don't you all think you should be getting to home room?" they suddenly scurried off and I sighed as I dropped back against the wall. You're so fucking stupid, Demetria.

I'm sorry the happiness didn't last long 🥺
