Just because I felt a little bad 🥺😂

Odell

"What happened between you and Demi?" my mom questioned as I sat at the kitchen counter on Friday morning. "You haven't spoken about her all week and normally you can't shut up about her. She usually spends a couple hours here after school too?" I glanced up from my bowl of cereal and stared at my mom's back as she prepared breakfast for Lani.

Thankfully, I've managed to avoid Demi all week. It hasn't been easy but it's been needed. Demi needs to decide whether she wants to be with me because one minute she does and the next she doesn't. I don't want to keep doing this back and forth, that isn't something I want. I've seen her a couple times at school. I've caught her staring a couple times too but she always looks away before my eyes can lock with hers. What she said hurt, I'm not going to deny that, but I really fucking miss her.

"We've just been busy with finals and everything" like your mother is going to believe that Odell.

"I'm not even going to pretend to believe that" I rolled my eyes as she turned to face me. "What happened?" I just shrugged. "Odell Beckham Jr" I sighed, pushing my bowl of cereal away as I no longer felt an appetite to eat it.

"We-We just decided to..." I stopped myself as I couldn't seem to think of an excuse. Finals was my one and only shot. I just decided to be honest, maybe she has some good advice. "I like her, like a lot" she lightly laughed and I was a little offended at her reaction until she spoke.

"Well I know that already."

"How?"

"It's obvious. Odell, you used to look at her like she was the only girl in the room, if not the world. It's not a surprise to me" if it was obvious to my mom, was it obvious to Demi? Was it obvious to everyone else? "She looked at you the same way, ya know" I shook my head and sighed, feeling a little deflated.

"No, she didn't."

"Yes, she did" I glanced up at my mom as she lightly laughed. "I was her once, the popular girl. All I thought life revolved around was school. I never thought grades or friendship mattered until I met your dad. He taught me that school popularity wasn't everything. He taught me how to love. Did she claim to not feel the same?"

"We-We've kissed" her lips twitched at the corners. "Her ex made a comment on Monday and she agreed with it."

"What was the comment?"

"That she would never go for a guy like me."

"What, a handsome guy who treats ladies amazingly?" I shook my head as I felt my cheeks burning a little. "Talk to her" my eyes widened as I stared back at her. "When you get to school today, talk to her" I released a sigh but decided not to argue.

I'll see what happens.

Demi was stood with Marissa at her locker. I was leant back against mine and it probably looked a little weird but I didn't care. I was trying to find the courage to go and talk to her. I decided to completely abandon the plan and went to walk down the hallway but I stopped myself as Ms Martel headed to Demi. I know Demi re-sat her math exam today. I watched the trio intently, my heart warming as Demi's lips twitched into a smile as Ms Martel handed her the exam back. She passed.

Her squeal filled the corridor as she threw herself at Marissa. The pair hugged and I felt my lips twitching into a smile. Marissa caught my gaze over Demi's shoulder, she flashed me a smile before whispering something into Demi's ear. Demi pulled away from Marissa and lightly turned around. Her eyes locked with mine and she flashed me a very light smile. I lightly laughed as Marissa gave her a nudge in my direction. Demi briefly glanced back at her, Marissa said something I couldn't quite make out and then Demi began towards me. My heart began to race the closer that she got to me.

"Hi."

"Hi" she nibbled on her lip as the silence settled around us. "So, what did Ms Martel tell you?" her enormous smile, the smile that owns my heart, spread its way across her face.

"I passed" my smile grew to match hers.

"I knew you would."

"Thanks to you" I shook my head in reply.

"You did it yourself. You just had to believe in yourself" I watched as her cheeks lightly blushed. "Demi, I..."

"I'm sorry. I-I shouldn't have said what I did, it was wrong and-and it-it wasn't true" I had to refrain from widening my eyes. I also had to stop my mouth from spreading into a wide smile. I was suddenly on cloud nine. She didn't mean it, so does that mean she feels the same way? "I-I..." she stopped herself and glanced down at her hands. She glanced around herself for a moment and then remembered where she was. "Are you free to come to mine tonight?" the thought made my heart skip a beat.

"Yeah, I'm free" she nodded and then flashed me a wide smile.

"I'll see you tonight then" she sent me a wink before she turned and headed back to Marissa who had this huge smile spread across her face. Marissa squealed causing Demi to giggle.

I definitely feel like I'm on cloud nine and as I walked towards English, I didn't think anything could ruin this mood. I don't think I've ever been so happy. I actually might have a chance at getting the girl I've been crushing on since I was 12. Is this seriously real? How isn't this a dream. And she likes me too. How even is that possible? I never in my life thought I'd get somebody as gorgeous as Demi fucking Lovato.
