Kalama
I was sleeping peacefully when my brother, Aeson, woke me up from my slumber. He shook me awake until my eyes opened and I knew something terrible has happened. He did not show emotions that much, but right now his eyes widened as if he were scared. Terrified. Of what, I was not sure but it made my stomach coil. "Get up." he demanded. "She has attacked."
I sat up from my bed, staring at Ace with confusion. I did not know what was happening. "What do you mean? What is going on?"
He ignored me as he opened my drawer full of clothes, pulling out my armor that was stuffed in between my other t-shirts. Not the best place to put it, I thought for a second. "Did you not hear me?" he said angrily as he had the handful of clothes in his arms, turning to me. "Eva is coming for us. For our family. She wrote a message in the sky, warning us that this is going to end tonight."
I took an unsteady breath, trying to hold it together. Control it, Kala. "Where's Vivienne? She and Jesse are the two people in the castle that we took from her. We need to protect them at all costs." I admitted. I didn't dare look at the night sky because my nerves were already off the charts, I was not going to add another reason to it. Ace set the clothes on the bed, peering at me slightly. He was worried for me, I knew it.
"I'm leaving to her room right now." he said dryly. "I've been teaching her how to fight so she can join us on the battlefield. But I'm going to make sure she's right next to me the entire time."
"Okay, you're going to tell me everything when this is over. I've missed a lot between you two." I remarked.
"And I missed our Father threatening your boyfriend. We need to catch up on a lot of things, Lama." he smirked. He walked out of the bedroom without saying another word, closing the door behind him. Time was of the essence at the moment, so I got dressed fast and gathered my weapons.
My armor was a mix of black and white, a joining of the Vampire and Fae kind. It was beautiful yet threatening to anyone who saw us dressed in it. It had lots of pockets for blades and even hidden spots for small knives. Just in case. As I slid my tall boots on and tied my hair back so I wouldn't be bothered by it, I heard a knock on the door.
I whirled as the door opened on its own, someone invited themselves into my room. The only person who does that was Jesse. Of course. He widened his eyes as he saw me and I raised an eyebrow, wondering why. "Wow. I am lost for words right now."
"That's a first."
"I've been ordered to track you down." he said, looking at all the random things I have in my room, fully ignoring my comment as if he didn't hear me. Brandy, the teddy bear I named when I was six, sitting in the middle of my bed. He helped stopped most of my nightmares when I was little. He still does, but I was not going to tell anyone that. "Your parents are already on the battlefield. Before they left, they wanted me to tell you to be on your guard and don't lose control of your powers. Same with your brother."
A shiver went down my spine. My mother and father were out there at this very moment, fighting our enemy. I couldn't fathom the idea of a life without them. I just could not do it. I crossed my arms over my chest, my blades moving against my skin slightly. Jesse was in front of me now, wearing his own armor he must have borrowed. For now, he would wear this. But on the battlefield, he would wear nothing but a coat of black fur and sharp canines that could rip anyone to shreds.
"Vivienne?" I asked again. "Is she with Ace?"
Another male voice came from the doorway of my room. I whirled, looking at my twin brother wearing the same armor as mine. He and I looked almost alike, thanks to us being paternal twins. "She's getting ready at the moment. Should be a few minutes before we go."
