My father closed the door behind him and the five of us looked around at this modern yet old house we were going to be staying in for the time being. It was Margot's house. One where she lived in New Orleans when she was not traveling. It was the house that held so many memories. Not mine, of course. But of Jackson's and my Mothers memories. Jasper and Sebastian's, even. This house became my mother's home even before Ambrosia. It felt like I was in a different time. One where I did not even exist yet.

"You all can unpack." Sebastian said at last. "I will find food to eat for all of us. I need to warn every surviving Vampire, Fae, and Werewolf to go into hiding for the time being. Even the Council."

"I do not eat food." Scarlett confessed. "But I need to rest. I will find a bedroom upstairs if that is alright with you, King Sebastian."

He waved his hand. "Go right ahead, Scarlett. This house is safe for all of us. You do not need my permission." And at that, he wandered into the other room and started a chain of messages he would convey to every single creature across the world. It would be the first time he would do it. The Royal Family, including the Queen, has been captured. Eva Miller is behind it. Be on your guard and stay hidden. These are orders from the King of Vampires. All of us looked at each other in shock. This just got real.

I clasped my hand around Jesse's and guided him upstairs. Scarlett was already in one of the rooms. I picked a random one and stepped inside with my bag of necessities, Brandy the bear inside of it. I dropped it on the ground next to me and looked up to Jesse. He had a confused expression on his face. "Have you guided me into this bedroom to kill me after all?"

I shook my head. "You are insufferable." I said. "I do not why I like you so much. I could have easily killed you for making me feel this way, Jesse, but I cannot. Please promise me that you won't leave me. Promise me you won't run away, even when I am at my worst. Because Jesse, I--"

"You have me, Alli." he interrupted. "Kalama Alli Breevort, I will not leave you. Ever. I will stand beside you and fight with every breath I have to be with you. To have a life with you, if you would like. I will not run away from you because my heart belongs to you. It has since the day I first saw you."

I watched as he pulled out a necklace with a ring attached to it. One where I wanted to buy in the city a few months ago. I wanted to for a million reasons I couldn't speak about. Yet, he had it around his neck this entire time. For the first time in a long time, I was speechless. "Thomas told stories about you and I knew I had to meet you. I had to get to know the Princess of Ambrosia with fire in her hands. And I saw you lost in thought while looking at this ring and I bought it with all the money I had. It's been my good luck charm because it allowed me to meet you, Alli. It allowed me to fight beside you when I couldn't do it myself. You saved me and I will happily bow down to you for how grateful I am."

I couldn't control it any longer, I kissed him. Our lips came together with full force that it left me breathless. "Be mine, Jesse Davenport. You told me once that we need to savor every moment. So this is me doing so. I don't want to be just friends. I want you, all of you."

"I was always yours." he whispered. His hands were tangled in my hair for a minute, plunging his tongue down my throat. After that, he picked me up by my thighs and guided me to the bed. He pulled up the top I was wearing, a rose-colored t-shirt. Then he stopped, looking at me fully with worry in his eyes. "Are you sure?"

I nodded my head. Yes, I was sure. I've never been sure of anything in my life. "Yes." I breathed.

And at that, we exploded like two stars in the sky. We were one body, one soul and there was nothing I could think of than his touch on my body. Even the most sensitive part, I could not help but moan in my mouth. Minutes, yet it felt like hours, passed and we were left laying on the bed sweaty and breathless from what we did. I could not help but curl my lips into a smile.

I could think of nothing but two things.

He was mine.

And I was going to fight with my last breath to save the ones I love from my enemy.
