"Daisy!" I hear a soft voice say as someone tugs on my dress. I look down to my waist and see Melanie, her hands on my skirt, looking up at me with a smile.
"Oh. Hello little one!" I respond, giving the best smile I could give.
"My book club starts in five minutes, I'm so excited!" She says with an excited voice. I feel my face wanting to wince at her voice, but I'm able to handle it and replace it with a tight smile as I nod my head.
After a few more minutes of her talking to me as I nod and pretend to focus on the books in front of me, Melanie leaves to the other side of the bookstore to begin the book club. As I hear her little feet trotting away I sigh in relief. I grab the basket in front of me that no longer holds any books and I begin to walk to the back, taking the long way. I stumble into the Art section, a comforting secluded area. I walk slowly looking admiring the pretty covers.
"Entonces que es esto?" I stop in my tracks and hide behind the biggest bookshelf. I quietly bend down and place the basket on the floor. I rise back up and try to see what's going on without getting caught.
"No lo sé! I gasp quietly and quickly raise my hand to my mouth as I immediately recognize the voice. I take off two books on the shelf, and through the little space I see Leonardo and Bella standing there, her left hand on her hip, her right hand holding up a phone in front of Leonardo's face. Her eyes read sadness but she's hiding it well by not showing any body language. Leonardo seems to be confused and by the way he bites his lip, although incredibly attractive, he looks guilty.
"Ni siquiera soy yo!" He says after darting his eyes away, he looks pissed but it was almost like I could see the facade on his body slipping off, melting off of him, showing he knows the truth. Although I couldn't understand much of the Spanish, it was quite obvious that he's being accused of something.
"Oh, no eres tu? Explica esto! Explique sus manos alrededor de otra mujer!" She says, her voice slightly raising as she puts the phone even closer to his face. Half of his back is turned to me now, but I can still see a part of his face. His eyes widen, as he blinks several times and he seems to be in shock.
I peer a little closer through the bookshelf, trying to see the small image on the phone. Leonardo puts his hands together, and he looks at her with eyes guilt, talking in Spanish, as if he's begging for something. His pleads begin to disappear, and become background noise as I finally fix my eyes on the image. My mouth falls open, and my eyes widen. My legs feel like they're about to give out, and little me is running around my body, freaking out and screaming.
I feel the fear pouring into my body, as I grab the bookshelf, holding myself from falling. The picture of Leonardo and May in each others arms in the alley, their bodies entangled, their lips connected. And although you can't see a lot due to the darkness, the left side of Leonardo's face is seen as May holds his head sideways, her hand in his hair as they kiss.
I quickly place the books on the bookshelf. I grab the basket and walk out of there as quietly as I could. Somehow Bella got ahold of those pictures I took and I didn't even know how.
