The Man

I suddenly drop the book I was holding and I hear a soft thud as it touches the ground. I roll my eyes and pick up the book. I look to my left and see a little girl. She has long black hair that seems to be curly and messy. She has tan skin, and some gray eyes. She gives me a quick wave and a smile. Just as I'm about to roll my eyes at her and get back to putting the books on the shelf, I see a man step into view.

He's tall, and his black hair seems so soft and beautiful. He has dark brown eyes, and tan skin. I could feel my heart start beating incredibly fast, and my breath begins to fasten.

"Melanie, baby, don't yell in the bookstore, you have to be quiet." He says in such a soft voice, making his voice sound addicting. I could feel myself being drawn to him every second that passed. He kneels down to the little girls level, who's name I now know as Melanie, and fixes her bow that became distraught.

I drop the book that I was holding, again, because the man's beauty made me stop breathing for a second. And I quickly scramble to the ground, picking up the book. I can feel eyes on me and I quickly turn to them. I lock eyes with the man and I couldn't help but smile. He gives one to me in return, but then stands up and picks his daughter up too.

"Do you know where we can find The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid books? The newest one just came out!" The little girl asks as she jumps up and down, with an incredibly hyper voice.

"Oh, um, yeah, just a couple aisles down, along with the Dork Diaries and Dear Dumb Diary series." I respond as I dart my eyes back to the shelf in front of me. I couldn't help but become incredibly nervous under the gaze of the man.

"Thank you!" She responds and begins to rush down the aisles.

"I'm so sorry for her screaming, she's a hyper kid." The man says and he gives a quick chuckle.

"It's okay, don't worry about it." I respond and give him a smile. I rarely ever smile, but he was making them appear as if I've known him everyday of my life.

He gives me a quick nod and he walks down the aisles, catching up with the little girl. I rush to the end of my aisle and look out. I can see them holding two books, and Melanie pointing between the two books.

I couldn't believe it. I had never met a man as beautiful as him. Everything about him seemed perfect. I had only said a couple of words to him yet I felt like I had been talking to him for an eternity. My heart begins to pain at the thought of never seeing him again.

What if this was the only time I'd ever see him in my life? No, that couldn't be possible, nor would I let it be possible. Who comes to a library only once in their life? No one would ever come here, libraries suck, unless you're a reader. I begin to breathe easy again after I convince myself that I would meet him again, and continue putting the books on the shelf.

No matter what, I couldn't get him out of my mind. Why was I so affected by a man I had just met?
