Chapter 1

A temptation of fate

I have just about had it with life. I am single yet another year and guess what the most irritating holiday of all times is approaching. *Valentine's Day*. People acting all lovey dovey, red everywhere you look and worst of all, the forsaken love songs that repeats in every single store you go too.

Janke being the true friend she is invited me to go on a walk with her and her boyfriend. Not that I minded Doyoung, he treats me like a sister instead of a third wheel. I honestly did not under any circumstances whatsoever want to get out of bed this morning. It was snowing outside, minus fifteen degrees, I might add, plus it was Saturday but Doyoung promised me a doughnut and hot chocolate if I went. So that being my only motivation to get up, I did.

I just climbed out of the shower when banging at the door started. "For the love of watermelon what is it!" I said as I opened the door only to be faced with a very distressed Janke. "What is it? Am I not supposed to be meeting you at the park?" Janke looked me up and down and said, "Good you are not dressed yet. I am here to help you. Doyoung said we both must dress nice and fashionable." I opened my mouth to say something but she only held up a finger and said, "Jeans and a plain long sleeved t-shirt is not fashionable Monique so get your ass in your bathroom and blow-dry your hair while I pick out your outfit."

Thirty irritable minutes later, we were on our way to the park. It is freaking freezing yet this woman decided to dress me in a freaking dress with leggings and knee-high boots. This winter jackets is not helping in the least and it is the same for this scarf. At least my hair is hanging loose so that is some form of protection from this cursed cold.

We approached Doyoung but as I looked up, I see he is with another man. Dear Mother Nature help these two and their souls if they set me up on a blind date. I looked to Janke and gave her the death stare. "Don't blame me, blame him. He said you are getting to lonely plus Rocky is a very fun and very energetic guy, just like you sometimes." I stopped dead in my tracks and look at her then to Doyoung and his friend. "If I don't get my doughnut and hot chocolate like promised I might just drown both Doyoung and his friend in the snow. You better make sure I get them." She grabbed me by the arm and pulled me towards them, against my will if I might add but I am all in this for the doughnut and the hot chocolate.

Doyoung heard us approaching and turned around to greet his girlfriend with a kiss and me with a smile. I looked at him and gave him my most sarcastic smile I could manage. Grabbing him by the ear, I pulled him to one side. "Ow ow ow, Monique please if you pull any harder they might fall off. What is it that got you in such a mood this morning?" I started laughing, "It seriously did not seem to cross your mind to mention to me that this would be a double date. Plus your girlfriend dressed me like a kpop idol in high winter!" I said motioning to this cursed dress I am wearing. "To top it all off its freaking minus fifteen degrees. So that hot chocolate better be damned good for your sake."

He gave me two of his hot packs, took my arm and led me back to Janke and his friend. "Let me introduce you to my friend. This is Park Minhyuk but we call him Rocky." I eyed the guy and he was soft on the eyes I had to admit that but I will let Doyoung get the satisfaction of knowing this. "Rocky this is Monique, Janke's best friend who is like a sister to me so I hope you two will be great friends." Rocky smiled at me and that's when I knew I was in trouble. Why is it always the smiles that gets to me.

The day was actually surprisingly fun. I got my doughnut as promised and in the end three hot chocolates. Rocky was so kind enough to buy me three more heating packs for my feet. The man surprisingly is a true gentleman. He took off his jacket and placed it over my lap as he helped me take of my boots to place the heating packs under my feet. He helped me zip them up again and we continued our walk arm in arm to my surprise.

I never under any circumstances let a guy get this close on the first day I meet him. Honstly, there is just something that feels right with him. Talking to him feels like I can tell him anything, as if I have known him for years.

The walk ended at the beach and we walked onto the pier because Doyoung and Janke wanted to take photos. I walked to the end of the pier and looked out. I brought my earphones because I knew something like this might happen. No one noticed that I was in my own world looking out at the horizon. Wind of FT Island came on and that made me fall into my mind.

Little did I know I was being watched.

*Rocky POV*

I have to say I was also so against this blind date just like Monique was. I was in for a surprise as I saw her when she and Janke came walking towards us this morning. Doyoung said to me that she might not be model pretty or idol gorgeous but her personality makes up for that alongside her big heart. I could already feel myself falling for her when she pulled Doyoung by the ear to scold him.

What really sealed the deal was as I stood on the pier watching her lost in her own mind her music in her ears looking out at the sea. I walked over to her pulled out one of her earbuds and placed it in my ear. She looked at me, smiled and continued to hum along with the song.

She was so lost in the music she did not even realize that she was interlacing her fingers with mine as I took her hand and placed it in my coat pocket.

We stood like this for hours because for one I did not want to disturb her and two I want to spend more time with her. So I sent Janke and Doyoung home so I can take her home. This might be the beginning of tempting our fate to the fullest.
