8 years ago...The sound of soft melodies playing resonated throughout the empty hallway of the university. Though, it was weekend, no one was expected to be at school. At least for Moon Byeol, she never expected anyone to be there at such a late hour.
Moonlight was seeping through the windows of the building, illuminating the dark hallway with a shade of midnight blue. Only her footsteps could be heard but the moment her ears perked at the sound of a soft tune, she halted and it almost scared her wits for she thought the university was haunted at night.
Despite being afraid of ghosts, she followed the sound nontheless. It was enthralling. Soft but beautiful that Byeol couldn't resist the temptation due to her curiosity.
And that's how he found him.
Her feet led her towards her desired destination, the music room that was located at the highest floor of the building.
Opening the door ever so soundlessly, he saw a young boy about her age sitting on a stool, playing the piano with his heart.
His hands danced through the piano keys, as if the piano was playing his hands instead. The view was so enrapturing that she even thought that the boy was glowing but it was just the bright light of the moon penetrating through the curtains of the windows of the room.
The light complimented his blonde locks, making him even more godlike.
Byeol had to inhale and exhale deeply to catch her breath. She didn't know if her sudden difficulty of breathing was the cause of her mini marathon on the stairs or the enchanting boy that was skillfully skimming his delicate and soft fingers through the keys of the piano.
She felt something cold drip on her arm and she gasped instinctively upon realizing that tears had begun to fall from her eyes, staining her cheeks wet.
That's when he stopped playing and swiftly turned around to find the source of the sound.
His eyes widened at the sight of the girl, glued on the ground, still oblivious of him turning his attention at her because she was too caught up of her sudden shedding of tears.
"Who are you?"
The deep voice of the boy finally pulled Byeol back to reality and she widened her own eyes as well upon seeing that the boy had already discovered her presence.
"I..." She stuttered.
The boy stood up from his stool instantly, his footsteps echoing as he approached the girl. He surveyed her face, studying her features but not in a flirtatious way.
"You're crying," he stated the obvious.
Byeol let out a soft humorous chuckle as she began hastily wiping her tears away in hopes to save herself from embarrassment.
"Your playing probably brought me to tears." She attempted to joke but her words came out as anything but a joke. She mentally slapped herself.
The boy, whose name was still unknown to her, furrowed his eyebrows. "My playing brought you to tears, or was it the song?"
Byeol, who had now recovered, pondered over his question.
"If I said both, would it be a good thing or a bad thing for you?" She tilted her head.
The boy grinned. "It depends on the reason why you cried."
"I will tell you only if you tell me your name." Byeol mentally praised herself at her smoothness.
"That was smooth of yours, darling." He smirked slightly, reaching his hand out for a handshake. "I'm Min Yoongi but you can call me Yoongi."
She took his hand, the contact sending chills down her spine. His hand was cold but at the same time warm. Cold because of the cozy and windy night, warm because of his recent piano session.
"May I know yours?" He asked like a gentleman as they shook their hands.
The girl smiled. "Byeol. Moon Byeol."
"Your name is beautiful, just like you," he complimented her. Byeol blushed knowingly though she was aware that he had no intentions of flirting with her. He was only being a nice human being and she began to wished that more men like him existed.
"T-Thank you." She didn't manage to prevent her stutter, to which the former found it amusing and adorable at the same time.
"I mean it." He tilted his head cutely. Their hands were still interlocked though none of them seemed to mind.
"A dazzling star, indeed."
