Present

Upon entering the dark house, it was silent between the couple. It was so quiet that they both felt the silence deafening their hearings.

Yoongi's car keys clinked as he placed them on top of the drawer whilst Byeol entered their home wordlessly, taking her shoes off and going straight to the kitchen with the lights still out.

He watched her silhouette meandering around effortlessly as if she had gained the ability to see clearly in the dark. He sighed. He believed that he trusted Byeol, so why was he feeling uneasy? Not only that but he trusted Jimin as well so why can't he dismiss the bothered feeling inside him?

He felt guilty for feeling this way but he already told his wife in the car earlier that there was nothing to worry about yet he felt like he was trying to convince himself too. His fists clenched as he stayed rooted on the floor while still watching Byeol navigating her way in the dark.

Yoongi slowly made his way to turn on the lights. He leaned against the wall and crossed his arms. "You're giving yourself a hard time. You should've turned on the lights."

"You did already, anyway." Byeol didn't spare him a glance and reached out for the cupboard.

The man's eye twitched slightly before he pushed himself off the wall to help his wife. He towered over her body as he reached out to take the pot that she'd been meaning to get. She mumbled a small thanks to him before immediately fleeing from his tall form.

He sighed. "Byeol, are you upset with me?"

She whirled around instantly, pointing a finger to herself. "Me? No. Absolutely not. Why would you think that?" She let out a forced chuckle.

"Look, I'm sorry for whatever I've done but if there's something bugging you off lately, please tell me, okay?" he pleaded, his eyes searching for hers.

"You don't have to be sorry about anything. This one's on me. I shouldn't have—"

She instantly stopped herself, realizing what she was about to say. The girl bit her lip, in hopes that he didn't catch what she was going to say. Alas, the world wasn't in her side today.

"What were you gonna say?" Yoongi's eyes never left hers.

Byeol fluttered her eyes shut momentarily before opening them again. The tension between the couple was thick and she knew that he wouldn't let this one slide. She was aware that there were things left unsaid between them so she might as well speak up otherwise, Yoongi would be suspicious what she was going through.

"Yoongi," she began. "You know that I love you, right?" she paused, looking at Yoongi to search for her answer. He nodded slightly. "I...I'm sorry...because lately, I wasn't exactly being a good wife to you. I...I keep some secrets to myself too. I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel so guilty that I'm not able to open up to you even though we have been together for a long time yet...I was able to open up to someone I just met. I'm so sorry, Yoongi. I'm so fucked up."

The girl bursted into tears and she covered her face with her hands. She'd finally said it and she was certain that Yoongi would never ever forgive her. She felt so guilty that she was being distant towards the man she loved and she didn't know why it was even happening.

She felt as if she had betrayed him.

Soon, she felt a pair of strong arms embracing her and a weight on her head. Yoongi had hugged her and placed his chin on top of her head. He ignored the obvious pain in his chest. Even though her words hurt him, he chose to dismiss the pain at the moment.

Lately, he had been feeling as well that he wasn't being a good husband to his wife so he wasn't exactly surprised that Byeol managed to open up to his friend, Jimin when he was just right there. It hurt as hell but he was going to have to endure it all.

Byeol needed some time off so she decided to do some grocery shopping the next day to distract herself. The previous night, after she cried, no words were said after she confessed. She didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. It still didn't change the fact that she was still feeling the guilt clawing at her.

What hurt more was that they both slept on the same bed facing the opposite ways. They both needed space and they willingly gave way to each other. Still, it somehow pained both of their hearts and they felt them ache painfully.

The woman let out an exasperating sigh before shaking her thoughts away to solely focus on shopping.

She pushed the cart around and got some stuffs and foods. However, she didn't expect to bump to the person she least expected to see.

Moon Bora, her older sister.

Byeol's eyes widened whilst the older didn't seem to appear fazed. In her hand, she was holding a bottle of wine. Their eyes met for a few seconds before footsteps neared the both of them.

They stared at each other's eyes before the man caught up with them, his breath ragged from all the running. Byeol realized the familiar face was Kim Taehyung, the publishing company's CEO.

"Didn't I tell you not to get that—"

He was cut off when he saw Byeol. His eyes widened immediately before he shifted his gaze towards Bora, concern plastered on his face.

When the awkward silence was too much, Taehyung decided to make the first move. "Min Byeol," he greeted.

The mentioned girl finally escaped from the temporary trance before she bowed to greet the businessman back. Then her gaze returned to her sister, who had a stoic expression written all over her face. She swore she saw her clutched the bottle of wine tighter.

"Unnie..." she trailed off, unsure of what to say. Surprisingly, Bora stayed silent as if she was waiting for the younger to continue. Byeol swallowed. "How...How are you, unnie?"

When she thought she would respond to her question, her hopes got crushed when Bora just walked past her, not even sparing a glance back at her. Taehyung immediately ran after her, leaving Byeol all alone.

Her grip on the cart's handle tightened as she fought back the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes.
