"You should go out with me," Remus suggested. Caroline let out a huff once she left the kitchen, on her way to the Forbidden Forest to see 'John Lennon'.

"I will do no such thing. We're co-workers," Caroline reminded. Remus grinned and jogged after Caroline, who was walking very fast once again. Every time she saw him, she felt like sprinting and Remus had very long legs so he didn't mind the chase, nor did he pick up on the clues.

"Is that the issue? Because if so, I'd quit my job," he offered. Caroline rolled her eyes.

"You wouldn't."

"I would." Remus knew what he was saying and he knew that his words were the truth. He would quit his job if it meant he could have Caroline back and he would probably do much more if Caroline asked him to.

"Remus, you can't do that. This is the first good job you've had over the years and I think you could have potential of keeping it," the blonde muttered. "If you lost this job, I would blame myself and you would probably homeless."

"True, but I'd be homeless and I'd date you. So they kinda cancel out," Remus said.

"How do they cancel out?" she questioned, clearly not believing the idiotic words constantly spewing out of Remus' mouth.

"They cancel out because they... they... look, that's not the point," he insisted as they rushed down the empty corridors. Most of the students were at lunch but the students that were out cheered Caroline on.

"Don't give in!" Lavender Brown shouted from the schoolyard. "I believe in you, Professor Pettigrew!" Caroline shot the girl an uneasy smile and Remus scowled at her.

Caroline hadn't gone to the Great Hall because she preferred to spend her lunches with the black dog who always waited for her at the dandelion field. Remus hadn't gone to the Great Hall because he preferred to chase around Caroline. "Just give me a chance."

"I gave you a chance."

"Give me another chance," Remus pleaded. "One date, Caroline. One date at Hogsmeade is all I ask." He knew it would only take one date to make Caroline fall in love with him all over again but the real challenge was to make Caroline agree to the date.

"No," she hissed. "I'm not going out with you so just bugger off."

"But-"

"God, you sound like James when he was trying to win Lily over," Caroline muttered.

"Well, James did win her over in the end, didn't he?" Remus asked. She didn't answer as they reached the edge of the Forbidden Forest. "Why are you going there? It isn't safe, Caroline," Remus warned.

"Just go away," Caroline scowled.

"I'll go away if you go to Hogsmeade with me. Just think about it," the Defense professor suggested. "Just one singular date and after that, I'll stop bothering you. If it goes well, we can go on another date and we'll see where it goes from there."

"That's the thing, Remus. If I went on a date with you, you'd probably think that it went well but let's be honest, it would probably be worse than average and after that, you'd get all hopeful and think that we could be together again when really there's no chance for us and then Sirius is going to come back-"

"Sirius is not coming back, darling!" Remus pushed on.

"He was here! At Hogwarts, Remus!" Caroline shouted back. "He's going to come back-"

"If he comes back, he'd come back to finish us off, not get remarried to you! Maybe he'd come to kill Harry as well!" he insisted. "Caroline, you might not want to face it, but you're all I have left and I'm all you have left."
