Caroline's long eyelashes fluttered as she awoke the next morning. A smile formed on her glowing face when she remembered where she was. Caroline shifted to the edge of her small, red blanket-covered bed and she closed her eyes in happiness when her feet touched the soft rug that spread across the entire dormitory.

The blonde changed quickly and slipped out of her shared dormitory before any of the other girls could wake up. She slid down the banisters of the moving stairs and ran down the corridors, only taking breaks to jump or twirl around.

Anyone else who was roaming the corridors at 5 am probably thought she was insane or that they were dreaming but the portraits that were awake during this time watched her fondly as she breathed in the fresh, spring air.

Even the orange cat that padded around in the mornings watched her with content. Caroline finally made it to the Quidditch field that she became familiar with over the years and she giddily spun around in circles.

Eventually, the sun started to rise and Caroline laid flat on her back. "This is my favorite part," she whispered to the wind. Caroline watched the clouds come into view and the dark sky became a light pink.

Before the orangish-pink sky could turn to a blue, Caroline summoned her broom. She would never use her Nimbus for Quidditch or ever tell anyone she owned a Nimbus. The blonde used her broom for one sole purpose, and that was to watch the sky.

Caroline's perfectly manicured hands wrapped around the broom and she kicked her combat boots off, leaving her barefoot. She situated herself on the Nimbus 1500 and rose higher and higher until she had a perfect view of the rising sun.

Her clear blue eyes twinkled as she watched the sky turn orange, then yellow, then a light blue. Caroline shifted around on her broom until her feet were rested on the stick part. Hesitantly, she stood up and balanced herself on the broom just like she did when she went surfing.

Caroline bit her lip in concentration as she put more of her weight into her front foot and grinned triumphantly when the broom moved slightly.

"Hey what're you doing!" someone from below her shouted up, causing Caroline to lose her balance and she felt herself falling suddenly.

She felt the wind on her back as she fell and she held her breath, waiting for the crunch or the crack of her bones but it never came. Caroline exhaled in relief and she opened her eyes to see soft brown, doe eyes staring back at her.

"You really shouldn't be surfing on a broom at 6 am," the unfamiliar boy warned. "You could get hurt."

Caroline glanced around her and realized she was about 3 feet above the ground. "You saved my life," Caroline breathed out. The older boy holding her bridal style lowered her onto the ground and Caroline got to her feet. "Thank you."

"Anytime," he charmingly grinned. "I'd hardly say I saved your life though. You were about 25 or so feet from the ground so it would be a bit of a harsh landing and a few broken bones but that's it."

Caroline put her combat boots back on and grabbed her Nimbus 1500 that happened to fall a few feet away from her. She turned back to the older boy and studied his features. She noticed his defined jawline, his kind eyes, his perfect grin, and his spiky dark brown hair. He had the same Hogwarts uniforms as the rest of the students but he wore a gold pin with a P on it on the right upper corner of his robes. "I'm Caroline Pettigrew. And you are?"

The older boy laughed and Caroline cocked her head to the side questioningly. The boy's laughter faded and he held his hand out. "Oh you really don't know? I'm Jeremy Wood, the Gryffindor Keeper."

The blonde didn't shake his hand and started to walk off the field. Jeremy's hand fell back to his sides and he chased after the girl. "Sorry," he quickly apologized. "I just assumed because I'm, uh, kinda popular, I guess."

Caroline quickly smiled, showing that she wasn't angry at all. "That's quite alright, Jeremy."

"I like your broom. I wish I had a Nimbus," he said, trying to start some kind of conversation with the beautiful girl that he'd never bothered to notice before.

"I got it for Christmas," she explained. "It's a Nimbus 1500."

"So where are you heading?" Jeremy asked.

"The Great Hall," she answered shortly. "Would you like to join me?"

Jeremy analyzed the girl, her soft hair with a few flowers in them, her light but deep eyes, her soft lips, the freckles dotted across her face like cinnamon. Finally, he answered, "sure."

"And you are?" Remus questioned the boy skeptically. His normally kind eyes narrowed at the sight of Jeremy Wood in his usual seat at the Gryffindor table.

Remus was well-aware of who the boy was but it didn't hurt to humble him a bit. He felt slightly threatened knowing that his competition was a Prefect who happened to be a Gryffindor Keeper and Quidditch Team Captain.

"This is Jeremy Wood," Caroline dreamily introduced the 6th year to Lily and the Marauders. Lily sent him a friendly smile and continued eating her french toast, not particularly interested in the boy. Remus took the seat on the other side of Peter and nudged Peter's shoulder, grabbing his attention.

"You're really going to let her sit with an older boy like Jeremy Wood?" Remus asked Peter, trying to bring out Peter's defensive, overprotective side for his younger sister. Instead, Peter shrugged his chubby shoulders and stuffed two more pieces of bacon into his mouth.

"He seems nice enough to me," Peter responded, a couple of chunks of food flying out in the process. Remus recoiled slightly and wished to go back to his nice seat next to Caroline but then remembered who was sitting there.

Remus glared at the boy who had Caroline's attention and simply watched as she laughed at something Jeremy said, knowing he was unable to stop their conversation. The sandy-haired boy pulled out his new novel, How to Kill a Mockingbird, and opened it in attempts to block out the conversation happening a couple seats away.

His attempts to drone out the two were useless as he read the same sentence on page 14 over and over again, listening to Caroline's laughter and Jeremy's words instead of actually reading. Remus let out a huff of annoyance and glanced at the clock, wondering how much longer he would have to sit there and listen to Jeremy woe Caroline.
