Overrated (Remade)

chapter 14

  "Gaara..?"

Gaara quickly pulled his hands away from his face. Lee was awake. He looked awfully tired but he smiled through whatever pain he was feeling.

  "Lee-!" Gaara gasped. He grasped his hand and smiled slightly. The moment almost made him cry. He didn't think Lee would be awake.

   "I'm glad to see you..!" Lee said weakly.

It hurt gaara more than anything to see Lee like this. 

  "Are you alright-?" Gaara asked eyeing the casts and cuts on lee's body.

Lee looked at himself. He frowned when noticing the injurys.

  "I'm sure I'll be alright! I'll recover!"

Even though Lee had seemed like he had forgotten about the rejection situation, Gaara could not help but bring it up.

   "Lee...about yesterday...i-"

Lee nervously laughed. "it's fine! I don't mind. I told you it'd be fine with me to be just friends!" He coughed slightly after his sentance. A bit surprised at his own actions.

  "No...it's not that ...I...I told you I'd think about it, right?"

Lee nodded slowly as if trying to recall the memory's.

  "I've never been in love before but I've never felt the way I feel around you- and when I said I'd think about it- I truly meant it. I talked to Temari and Tenten and they agreed I should just text you and meet up but- then this"

Lee frowned but then smiled again.  Trying to take in all the information being said.

  "I'd love to" Gaara smiled.

It took lee a few secondeds before processing what gaara said. His eyes lit up when he finally relized.

   "Wait- seriously??"

Gaara nodded with a soft smile on his face. "Yes.."

Lee laughed. "I'm so glad!"

Gaara nodded again. Feeling as if there was nothing else to say. He had felt- full and complete, a much better feeling than the one he felt the night he rejected Lee.

In all truth, Gaara didn't care that Lee was some famous Idol. He hoped Lee didn't think that's all he cared about, beacause he could care less about his popularity and fame. He just wanted Lee. Lee himself. For all he could care, his fans could unfollow him and he'd be almost happy.

    "Gaara..- I wanted to apologize for bringing up the whole situation this early-"

Lee sighed. He looked up. Wondering if Gaara had only accepted out of pity. Truth be told he felt like people only dated him to get to his popularity or just to be posted on some instagram status.

He felt embarassed thinking that Gaara only wanted to go on a date for that, but he just couldn't push the thoughts away.

   "Lee- I was already planning on telling you before the accident. If you want proof you can check your phone"

Lee smiled. "you can read me so clearly can't you-?"

Gaara nodded. "yes.."

Lee looked back at Gaara. Staring into his eyes. He found himself becoming sleepy just by looking at them.

  "I'll be alright" lee mumbled before falling asleep again. Gaara stood up after taking another glance around the room. His visit was over and it was time for him to leave. He wrote a quick note on a sticky note and pencil that was left by a nurse and stuck it onto lee's bedside table.

Gaara tiptoed out of the room and shut the door behind him.

  "...I know- it's bad" Neji said to Gaara. Tenten, guy and Kakashi were no where to be seen and Neji had apperantly Hung around. Even after everyone else had left.

  "He was awake" Gaara said. Him and Neji matched energies somtimes. Queit, annoyed and overall stingy.

It didn't mix very well occasionally but they both made a silent agreement to do it for Lee.

"He was-??"

Gaara nodded. "he woke up- and fell back asleep but he said some things to me..."

Neji was suddenly letting off different energy. One that Gaara did not recognize.

  "It's private stuff- Somthing we needed to sort out before the accident but never got to"

   Neji growled. "if you just put extra stress and pressure on Lee- I'll kill you" His voice was still queit. He still seemed calm even though his energy and time indicated otherwise.

  "It wasn't about anything that could put stress on him." Gaara said. He had reframed from using his regular default and monotone voice on Neji. Since he was one of Lee's friends but Gaara was starting to Get angry.  He knew Neji had good intentions. He didn't know why he was making him so angry but he did know he was getting agitated with Neji.

   "Then what was it about??"

Gaara fumbled with his fingers. "you can't tell anyone other than Tenten and Temari but-" Gaara looked back behind him at Lee's door.

  "Lee had asked me out- and I said I'd think about it. Unfortunately I messaged him too late last night and he never got it- I just accepted his proposal back then- he was happy"

Neji had let a weight on his chest go free. He felt a bit better knowing Gaara had some something to help Lee and not to hurt him. Maybe Gaara wasn't so had after all.

  "Listen- I'm sorry for getting on your ass- Lee's just my close friend. I don't get along well with other people"

  "I assumed that" Gaara replied.

  "Yes- but, I just hoped deeply you didn't say anything to him that could of really hurt him- but I'm glad you didn't. Thanks" Neji gave a half smile before turning around and walking off.

Gaara let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and looked back at Lee's door again. He felt bad leaving it but he knew he couldn't stay there forever.

   "I'll be back Lee"
