Dear diary,

Today was a new beginning. I finally got away from that awful place. A rich family adopted me to take the place of their deseased daughter Silvia.

At first I thought that I escaped the struggles that come from being lowborn when I stepped out of the decorated carriage.

It turned out to be far more torturous. This family seems to abhor the idea of me being their daughter. At times like these I always miss my mother. She truly was the only person to care for me.

When she left, a part of me died too. My dear diary, you are the only one who truly knows me. I wish you were there today when they claimed that I was the thief of Silvia's belongings.

How could I even dream of something that I don't know the value of? These people are bad.

...

The night was chilly and the moon was full as I sobbed quietly. I couldn't sleep. My sadness kept me awake. I sat by the window and gazed at the full moon that sparkled brilliantly up in the dark sky.

As hours passed by this moon that accompanied me, dived into the horizon and the once dark sky was painted with amazing colours.

The sun rose in the sky and a bad feeling flooded me. I closed the diary and locked it in a drawer and hid the key behind the desk.

It was now morning and I knew that this new day would be even worse. I had a bad feeling that they will not leave me alone.

Jace and Toren clearly showed their hatred towards me. When I left the dining room Toren looked so satisfied.

I stood in front of the mirror believing that I would look haggard because of not sleeping. Instead I looked refreshed. My cheeks had a faint blush colour and my eyes were shiny.

Suddenly my stomach started growling and I felt that the emptiness inside me meant hunger.

So, I didn't change to the fancy clothes that were actually meant for Silvia Grey and I went downstairs to the dining room.

The huge doors opened and I saw my so called family while eating their breakfast so cheerfully.

By the time I entered their smiles froze. The duke had a stoic expression while the two boys kept monitoring my every move.

At first I froze too in the sight of the happy family breakfast that I could only observe at the commercials played on the TV.

Then, I got back to reality and I pinched the corners of my ragged dress slightly lifting them as I bowed.

To top my greetings up I said with a calm and aloof manner

" Greetings to your grace and the two young masters ".

As I raised my gaze I could definitely see their eyes still monitoring me full of curiosity.

Without another word I quietly sat on the chair furthest to them and asked the maid politely to serve me breakfast.

The maid narrowed her eyes giving of a vicious stare back at me.

Then, after a few minutes, she came with a worn out plate with uneven slices of bread and a pair of toy fork and knife that undoubtedly couldn't even cut butter.

Then she took a bottle of milk and started pouring it to the cup. Suddenly I felt my legs burning as she poured the hot liquid over me.

I felt unbearable pain as the dirty and ragged fabric stuck on my burnt skin.
