Chapter Nineteen

These days, Kyris visited again and again wanting to explain to me why he left. Why would he appeared suddenly after so many years. He surely has other motives. What would a wealthy nobleman want from me?

I don't plan on accepting such a person as my father. I have done this mistake twice and it didn't end well. If only he didn't abandon us... What's wrong with having a family? He should have stayed and be my father. After all he was already rich and he could at least provide for us.

I am in the garden, enjoying my tea. Today I asked for chamomile tea to calm my nerves. The calming scenery was totally opposite to my chaotic head.

Killion was sleeping deeply from exhaustion and the kids were studying. I was alone lost in thought.

Suddenly, Sienna appeared. She was wearing her usual attire yet I noticed how attractive she was. A sparkling presence.

"My lady. There are a few letters addressed at you..."

"From who?"

"There is a letter from the Grey family, one from the emperor and an anonymous one."

All three letters had something strange about them. A letter from the Grey family... They are too guilty to ask something from me.

The emperor must have something important to tell me by sending a letter here.

The anonymous one was the strangest. Who would send a letter when he doesn't want to be recognised? Suspicious...

At first I opened the letter of the emperor. He was asking about my well being, if I can still fight and if I will attend a sparring competition.

Secondly, I opened the letter from the Grey family. They were asking to meet and talk about something important. Curiosity struck me but the suspense was at its zenith when I took the anonymous letter on my hands.

I unfolded the piece of paper that was inside the envelope and rows of  well written letters in calligraphy appeared.

"Dear duchess Silvia Fury.

I hope my letter finds you well.

I apologize for not letting you know who I am but I think it's for the best.
I write this letter to let you know that I would like to talk to you. I hope you accept.

The time and place can be determined by you. You can write it on a paper and send it to the emperor.

Sincerely."

This letter was putting me in suspicions. Who would want to talk to him without revealing his name?

And what is the connection between him and the emperor?

I took the letters with me and headed to my study. After I closed the doors and made sure that I was alone I called Speth.

"Contractor did you ask for me?"

"Yes"

"What's the problem?"

"There is a certain letter... I want to detect who wrote it"

"There os no name?"

"No"

"Then... There is a certain spell but you have to make the circle alone and place the letter inside."

"I won't do it... Now that I think about it...whoever wants to talk to me and whatever the issue, it's too shady."

I took the letter in my hands. I was about to burn it when I felt that wasn't right. Why wouldn't it be right to burn a letter that is probably a scam?
