~I see you~

I have learned that when depression comes at me all I can do is say "I see you". I need to spend time with it, after all it's mine, then get up and say goodbye. You don't have to push it, it will only come back, you have to own it. But these things don't happen just like that, you can't do them all in a blink of an eye. Don't worry that you couldn't do that in a first try, after all depression didn't came from nothing. But the same as it came it needs to leave too.

When you are trying to heal, you need to find the roots of it. There's always a reason depression came at you. You just have to find it. Sometimes it's an event, sometimes it's your whole childhood. It always depends.

Maybe sometimes you're not healing because you're trying to be who you were before the trauma. But remember this: That person doesn't exist anymore, there's a new you trying to be born.

I once saw somewhere that "you never have to do today again", think of that when you're having a bad day. You did today, it was hard. Good job. Tomorrow may not be easy either, but at least it won't be today.

"Focus on the step in front of you, not the whole staircase."
