Never did Bucky want to touch Sam. But not because he didn't like her-he loved her, in fact- but he was scared to hurt her again.

It was difficult, though, to stay away from her.
If only he could get rid of his metallic disgrace.

Sam didn't want to stay away. She loved Bucky.

His company and developed friendliness. She didn't want to go back to being the loner girl she had always been. Not talking to anyone, but Claude.

One tiny tear escaped Sam's eye while she rubbed it away, pulling on some jean shorts, white Converse, a gray blouse and her glasses.

She took ahold of a green-inked gel pen near her work desk and began writing a note.

As soon as she was done, she placed it on the coffee table and went out the door.

The alarm rang and Bucky groaned, stretching his arms. The alarm read 9:00 am and no trace of Sam was in the place.

Ususally she would be up and running, settling the coffee machine and the toaster- with Adventure Time or Tom and Jerry on the TV. Smiling and saying good morning, but no.

He grabbed a fistful of his now-short hair and sighed, letting a blow of air escape his lips.

What he did was terrible. He scared the hell out of Sam and she left. She was keeping her distance and Bucky thought she wouldn't like him anymore. Because of his outburst and unexpected personality.

The familiar cushion flew across the room and knocked over a few bird adornments.

Good job Bucky. Always messing things up. He thought.

An unusual white paper, rested on the coffee table-catching Bucky's eye.

He groggily leaned over and rubbed his right eye, while his metal hand took ahold of the note.

Written in green gel ink- were the words:

Went to go get groceries! Be back by 10:00 :)

He felt relieved, knowing that she at least didn't leave without advising him.

Sam pushed the cart out of Trader Joe's with a few groceries in brown paper bags.

About three yards away, she spotted a Mom with her toddler sitting on the cart's seat. They were barely entering the store when she could hear the toddler ask her Mother innocently: "Mommy what happened to that girl's neck?"

Sam's bony hand came up to touch her neck and she remembered that there where bruises there.

The woman was looking through her purse and looked up to Sam, eyes widening in realization.

"I'm...sorry.", she apologized and raced inside the store, clearly embarrassed by her daughter's innocent wondering.

A spark that used to be in those green eyes, got lost and was replaced by a cloud of sadness.

Can't things just go back to normal?

She thought while pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose and walking back to her car.

Bucky didn't know what to do to make Sam forget about everything. Do something as a thank you for...everything.

A nice walk to the close flower shop wouldn't hurt.

Bucky took a quick shower and decided to stop by at Fredd's Donuts for a quick breakfast.

Adjusting his baseball cap and coat, Bucky took a few dollars that Sam had given him, that he never used and the apartment's key.

A light breeze welcomed him while he stepped into the sidewalk of passing strangers and honking cars.

Thursday was sure a busy day, he thought while entering the doughnut place, with the familiar bell ringing behind.

Smells of coffee and sugar reminded him of Sam smiling and cooking, making him grin.

As soon as he got his order without strangling anyone, he walked off and saw the long awaited flower shop.

Sweet and unrecognizeable scents welcomed him.

Colors of all kinds melted into a rainbow of beautiful nature. He loved it and he thought the blue periwinkles would delight Sam.

"For how long?", he heard a raspy, elderly woman's voice.

Bucky had been paying so much attention to the amazing plants, he didn't notice a young man conversing with the elder, who seemed to be the owner of the place.

"Seven years.", the man replied while looking at the red roses he just purchased, smiling widely.

"Long time, no proposal.", the woman said.

" Soon enough, because I love her.", he said and Bucky didn't hear the rest.

He was too focused on what the man had meant.

Quickly, but with delicacy, he grabbed the bouquet of his chosen flowers and headed for the cashier.

"For who, may I ask?", the woman smiled and Bucky stiffened.

"My mother.", he replied, thinking it would be rather strange for Sam to be his Mom. Even though she kind of acted like that in a way.

" Very well then," she said and her eyes shifted towards the amount displayed on the cash register. "That'll be twelve dollars with ninety-eight cents."

Bucky pulled out a crumpled twenty dollar bill and handed it over.

"Thank you sir and have a nice day.", the woman replied and he nodded, making his way out of the small shop.

He couldn't wait for Sam to see these.
