After vandalizing the school's new weather balloon, Kevin, as usual, is considered the chief suspect. Kevin's guilt is proven when he carelessly kept the plans of his mischief in his pockets. As a result, Kevin is punished by being made to awaken at the early hours and having to help the principal while he goes sky watching. He hopes to find something which he could have named after himself; however, he spots the balloon and leaves briefly to try and catch it, telling Kevin not to touch the telescope. Kevin messes with the telescope; after flailing the scope around on its tripod, Kevin looks through it to discover a comet outside the Earth's atmosphere, much to the principal's dismay.
Nolan told Kevin not to run away, but Kevin actually say that the principal told him 4:30 in the morning before school. Kevin usually ran out of his minds.
Although Paul, Grady, Ed, Fran, Bill, Mick, Roy, Fred, Karl, Milt, Gary and Dave finally found a lost book which was made in 1940, the year Roy, Fran and Mick were born.
The next few days, that comet is no comet, it's just a rock, thanks to Kyle.
