When Nolan notices that Fran was enjoying unexplained privileges at the Nolan's house, he investigates and discovers that he is part of an ancient secret society known as the Stonecutters. When he tries to join, he learns that one must either be the son of a Stonecutter or save the life of a Stonecutter in order to gain membership. While extolling the Stonecutters at the dinner table, he discovers that his father is a member, and is admitted.
When Fran was headed to the lodge, and Nolan follows. After the last initiation was over, Nolan clap his hands, Fran believes he's mad, and the headmaster kicks both Fran and Nolan out.
Fran and Nolan went the Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlor. At home, Fran was very angry as did Jeanne. Laurie is asleep and gets up as they started to fight. Laurie was very upset, and the police arrested the two, and Laurie is with Nolan and Marva Lynn. Nolan believes that his daughter is named Laurie.
Nolan has joined the lodge, finally got the initiation, and Paul, Grady, Ed, Bill, Mick, Roy, Fred, Karl, Milt, Gary and Dave were part of it as well.
