Marva Lynn was eight months pregnant of their final child, she regrets not to have sex with Nolan again. They are unaware of Nolan and his brother-in-law Waldemar selling their tonic, so they continue to believe that their parents have turned into reverse vampires: they have to get home before dark, which in the children's view explains the adults' behavior of running inside and closing the blinds as soon as they get home.
During one sales trip, Nolan and Waldemar visit the farmhouse where Marva Lynn's family used to live. Waldemar reminisces about the time the family lived in the house, but Nolan asks why his brother-in-law never gave him any encouragement when he was growing up. They keep talking as they drive off, and the conversation turns into an argument. Waldemar says he never encouraged Nolan because he was a screwup, and Nolan says he has had too much of Waldemar and the tonic. Waldemar then becomes ticked off and says that Nolan was an accident and wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the tonic, and adds that he wishes Nolan had never been born. Furious with his father, Nolan quits selling the tonic and kicks Waldemar out on the roadside.
Waldemar returns to the old farmhouse, slangs the tonic into the fireplace, and destroy the house. The police officers were arrested Waldemar with arson and was sentenced to one year in prison. Paul, Grady, Ed, Fran, Bill, Mick, Roy, Fred, Karl, Milt, Gary and Dave were upset about Waldemar's tonic.
