The following day, Ahsoka felt better, not so much pain anymore, but she still did not wanted to leave the bed, always lying on her belly. Specifically she did not want to move her head. When Mike was waiting there at her side, it got too much for her. She knew he just cared about her and was well meaning, but she also needed time for herself, total quiet time. Therefore she asked him, if he can inquire about the progress with the VT-49. Before he left, Ahsoka ordered him to take the strong healing crystal off of her and put it around his neck. At least one of them had to be fully OK.

Wearily leaving Ahsoka behind, Mike flew over to the university. As the highlight of the day, he was informed that they had installed the transmitter already and were working at the application layer. The good news boosted his mood but it was all that Mike could do here for the moment, as well. Mike knew, that the scooter was not any good for bringing Ahsoka back from the hospital, whenever she would be dismissed, thus he loaded it back into the VT-49 and took public transport to the military space port picking up the speeder.

Just before Mike woke up the next morning, he saw Ahsoka fighting with Darth Vader in his dream. Vader had exhausted her and her reaction and strength decreased. Eventually he drilled his saber into her and she died. It was so disturbing for him, it felt like his heart got ripped out. Shaken to the core, he thought about whatever he could do to protect her eventually falling asleep again, having fully exhausted his brain. Now, he dreamed about Ahsoka and Vader fighting again, Vader drilled his saber into Ahsoka, but this time the saber was deflected by an armor that Ahsoka wore. With that, Mike fully woke up and he knew, that he had to create that armor. He did not know how yet, but he would find a way.

Mike dressed and flew to the university again. They were doing tests with the thought control cap but they could not retrieve valid data from the ship. For first tests they were not trying to fly, it would have been dangerous and stupid. Mike could not help it, he had to check things for himself. He figured, that if they could retrieve data, but the data was wrong, the physical connection is working and it's rather something in the application layer of the software. It took him hours to kind of understand the structure of the program, but eventually he found the problem, the address assignment in a memory table was partly incorrect for the VT-49. He found it, because he knew the VT-49 in and out.

That same day a computer, cross checking data, found an arrest warrant, for an Ahsoka Tano, which was killed. According to the rule set in its program, it declared the arrest warrant and its corresponding reward as obsolete and invalid.

Going back to the hospital, they had released Ahsoka and she was waiting for him to come pick her up. Every move hurt her and she was walking and moving slowly. He drove her to the B&B trying to maneuver the speeder as careful as possible; still it was an agony for Ahsoka. He felt sorry for her and continuously thought about what he could do, but there was not much. Finally after an atrocious ride they arrived in their room and Ahsoka laid down straight away. That night, Mike slept on the floor, because he was afraid to hurt her, in case he made a wrong move while sleeping. Next day around noon time Ahsoka wanted to go to the university to see what progress they had made. She wanted some distraction.

To Ahsoka's and Mike's delight, at the university, they informed them that they were ready with the VT-49 for flight tests. What they wanted to do first though was tests with her. Ahsoka had to fly in a simulation program on the computer, to validate the full functionality of the implant and to train her motorial center to interact correctly with the thought control system. Hydraulics of the simulator were turned off, so that it won't move and thus not create any physical stress for Ahsoka. After all, they only wanted to validate the functionality of the whole system – Pilot, wireless data transmission and flight control. It was a good way to kill time effectively. In the beginning the virtual plane in the computer was doing the weirdest movements and crashed regularly. Though, after a couple of hours, Ahsoka was able to keep the plane up in the air.
