Ahsoka the Bounty

That same day, Mike showed Ahsoka the result of all the work he's done to the VT-49. He had turned the R2 head into a gunner. He had loaded a special application into the R2 which supposedly made the R2 an excellent gunner. What had taken him most of the time were the adaptations he had to make. The correct function however still had to be tested. The R2 could as well fly the ship according to Mike; still that too had to be tested. Given the earlier almost accidents she was rather hesitant with the tests.

Mike still had the other improvement to the VT-49 in mind and had taken the scooter to town sometimes, mainly looking for small hyperdrives. Though so far he had never found something suitable. Having finished the gunner project now, he wanted to move on to the next mod and he told Ahsoka they had to get new mini hyperdrives from Coruscant. The small hyperdrives for drones, that he deemed most suitable for what he wanted to do, were just on the market since last year and this is probably the reason, why they were not available here on Tatooine. They would have to fly to Coruscant to get them. It would though also be possible to have them shipped here, but that was about double as expensive. Coruscant was a word, that made Ahsoka uncomfortable and she did not wanted to go back to Coruscant, at least not now, she regarded it too dangerous. Not so much for herself, more for Mike. When she rescued him last time he was only a finger snip away from death. She would not know how to continue living when something really bad happened to him. She simply did not feel ready to go to Coruscant yet and she told Mike, she would rather spend double and have them shipped.

Another day Mike brought back junk from town. It barely fit on the scooter. The junk apparently was an old rotten camouflage net plus poles. Outside in the sand, Mike mended the net and with Ahsoka's and the B2's help put it over the VT-49. The VT-49 was well hidden now and in shade during the day. Being very skeptical at first, after a couple of days, Ahsoka started to appreciate the camouflage net, the shade it gave kept the VT-49 and the area around it a bit cooler.

The time they had spent here on Tatooine was wonderful. So peaceful, no empire, no inquisitors, no Vader, no Jedi, no war and all the butterflies in her stomach. She enjoyed the short kisses during the day, getting dirty helping Mike and the scooter rides through the desert. Even Mos Eisley with all its exotic people, including the crooks and the desperados was exciting in a way. They spent the evenings watching the sun down in the desert, usually with some wine and sandwiches ending up cuddling on the couch. Her sweety often enough got her agitated as well, but once he realized, he tried to cherish her again. Then he called her his beautiful elf again, which she really liked. She hoped it would never end, but she knew it would. It was her greatest fear.

Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.

Dengar's POV:

Dengar had waited in his ship for quite some time already. He assiduously followed the position of Ahsoka's scooter provided by the transmitter. When she parked it in front of Chalmuns Cantina, he took off with his space craft, positioning it outside of Mos Eisley about two hundred meters up in the air. About half an hour later, Ahsoka came back. Her speed was high, but she followed an imaginary straight line from Mos Eisley to the crater. The straight line and the desert would make it relatively easy for him. He steered his ship behind her, moved the cannon's optics target cross on the scooter and fired.

Ahsoka's POV:

The force suddenly urged Ahsoka to pull the scooter straight up. Knowing, that those sudden intuitions often enough had saved her live, she did it without delay. Half a second later, she heard the impact of a laser shot in the sand. The scooter was vertically soaring up into the air and she had to hold on to it using the force. She pulled her com link out and called Mike. Luckily, he picked up right away and she bawled: "Mike, help me, a space craft shoots at me."
