You sat up wrapping both arms around yourself.
It was very cold and two blankets and a big sweater were not stopping you from trembling.
It would have been nice to have your boyfriend to keep you warm, but once again he had gone out to party with his teammates.
He knew the drill, he hadn't answered any of your texts or calls and he was going to have to sleep on the couch.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the slamming of a door, and a familiar groan.
You rolled onto your side and hugged your knees, mentally wanting him to make his way upstairs and hold you.
But you didn't hear him come up the stairs. Lately your relationship was hitting a rough patch, but your mother told you that it was like this the first few years of marriage. You're both getting used to sharing your lives with each other.
You didn't mind Erik going out with his friends when you were just living together, but now it bugged you how much he went out to drink with his teammates, sometimes you wanted to celebrate his victories and mourne his loses with him.
You were two months away from celebrating your first wedding anniversary and you wanted to work this out.
You sighed and remembered how perfect everything seemed to be, honeymoon phase.
Erik couldn't seem to keep his hands off you and you didn't mind.
You stood up and grabbed a blanket, making your way downstairs.
Erik was laid across the leather couch. His feet hanging off a bit. He had an arm around his face and his shoes along with his jacket were on the floor next to him.
Erik heard you shuffle towards him and glanced up at you.
You placed the blanket around your shoulders, and slipped a leg around him.
So you straddled his waist, and placed your head on his chest.
"Hey baby, what's up? Are you okay?" He muttered, slipping both hands onto your back. It didn't matter if he was mad at you he would never deny you a hug or avoid holding you. Erik loved you too much and you loved him just as much.
"I got cold, being in bed by myself."
He leaned in and kissed your forehead. "I'm sorry, I thought that you would get mad at me if I went upstairs. It's pretty late."
"Baby, I don't get mad that you get home late. I get upset because it feels like you don't want to spend time with me."
You glanced up at him and he nodded his head in disagreement.
"I'm sorry if I make you feel that way. Now that I'm thinking back, I've been neglecting you. I'm so sorry honey."
Erik leaned in and kissed your forehead. You sighed and replied:
"I just want us to get back to before. I hate arguing with you."
He kissed your forehead and said:
"I need to spend more time with you. I will."
He rubbed your back and smiled kissing your cheek:
"Let's go upstairs so I can hold you and get you warm baby."
He sat up and lifted you up off your feet, carrying you bridal style towards your bedroom...
Erik smiled and kissed your forehead as he wrapped both arms around your waist, his lips ended up below your ear.
"You, know I love you right?"
"I know you do, I love you too babe."
