I instinctively reached out to Atlantia when she fell. I didn't let her hit the pavement because she was already so injured she didn't need a concussion to go along with it. She stared up at me but I could tell she could barely see me.
"Atlanita, don't leave me. Come on stay with me." I beg hold as I hold her in my arms but she didn't listen. She closed her eyes and my heart sinks. I scream her name as I pull her into my chest but when I do that, I realize something. She still held a heartbeat. I don't think. I turn to Headmaster McGonagall, "She still has a heartbeat. We need to get her to Madam Pomfrey, now!" She doesn't question me or yell at me for my bossy manner. Instead, she grabs my wrist and apparates us to the medical wing where Madam Pomfrey was waiting.
"Let me see the poor thing." Madam Pomfrey says grabbing Atlantia from my arms. She places her on a bed and starts to do a routine check on her so she would know what to do. As information I didn't understand starts to pop up, Madam Pomfrey kicked Headmaster McGonagall and I out of the room saying she will grab us when she is done.
"Go rest, Blaise." McGonagall says tiredly, "It will be a while till Madam Pomfrey is done. You will need to be rested because Atlantia is going to need a lot of love when she awakes and you can't provide if you are not rested."
I nod even though I don't want to go rest but all I say is, "Will you come get me if Atlantia awakes?"
"Of course. Now go." She says doing a shooing motion with her hands. I smile at that before walking down the hallway toward the Slytherin dormitory. When I entered, Pansy, Draco, and Millicent were waiting in the main area as well as many of the other Slytherins.
"How is she?" Draco asks worried.
"I don't know," I say, "but Madam Pomfrey and McGonagall seem pretty hopeful that she will fine. She may be in a very unhealthy state after this but she would be alive." The tension in the room seemed to be relieved when I say this. With the tension gone as well as the post-battle adrenaline, everyone became very tired so many of them followed me up the stairs toward their own dorm rooms. I crashed for about six hours and it was night when I awoke. I quickly made my way back to the medical wing hoping that Atlantia was awake or at least in a better state than she was this afternoon. When I entered, Madam Pomfrey was sitting on a chair next to Atlantia.
"Mr. Zabini." Madam Pomfrey said when she noticed me, "I am pleased to tell you that Atlantia will be alright. She will be very weak most likely for a while because she will be recovering from this overuse of power and the one from last year as well. I can assume that you will be willing to help her on her recovery?"
"Yes, of course." I say immediately.
"Good," She says nodding, "But that won't start till she awakes. Go to the dinner. I'm sure you would like to tell Atlantia the happy news the Minerva will be announcing when she awakes." I hesitate for a moment but do as she asks. But I don't leave till I give Atlantia a small kiss on her forehead hoping she can feel my worry and love for her even in her unconscious state.
I walked to the Great Hall and found that everyone was present sitting at their house table. All eyes had turned toward me. Most of the older years know I was dating Atlantia and I figure they were looking at me wanting news on Atlantia but I just walk to the Slytherin table and slide in next to Draco.
When dinner is finished, Headmaster McGonagall stands up and clinks her glass to try to direct attention toward her even though she didn't need to since once she began to stand, all eyes were on her.
"I never imagined this year to be like this one has ended up being like." She begins looking at all of us, "Many of your professors believed that it would have been a simple year of just teaching your wizards and witches magic but of course this was not what happened. Though, I'm not sure I would like to change the events. Atlantia is a wonderful student and I am sure many of you are curious of her condition. Mr. Zabini, I am assuming you have stopped by the medical wing before dinner. How is she?"
I look at her as all eyes fall in my direction. I use the Amplifying Charm so everyone could hear me without hurting my voice.
"Madam Pomfrey believes she will make a full recovery although she will be very weak and most likely will not be able to use her powers fully. She believes it is because of the battle against Voldemort last year and this most recent battle." I say telling them exactly what Madam Pomfrey told me. Relieved sighs could be heard throughout the Great Hall. Nobody wanted her to not recover since she basically saved everyone again from dying.
"That is great news." McGonagall says smiling at me. I remove the charm since I figured it was not necessary any more, "This means I can happily announce something that the professors including Atlantia talked about at the beginning of the school year. We had hoped to announce it earlier in the year but of course this battle took precedence. Atlantia during one of our meetings suggested, as a celebration of everyone surviving the battle last year, for Hogwarts to have a party similar to the Yule Ball. It will only be with our school but all years will be included. Tomorrow letters will be sent out to your parents requesting that dress robes are bought and if your are unable to afford one, Atlantia had mentioned in the meeting that she is willing to purchase robes for those who can't afford them. I will confirm this when she awakes but I would assume that she would still want to buy the dress robes for those who can't afford them. The Yule Ball will occur at the end of the school year at the end of May so you have plenty of time to find a date and get your robes. Now classes will not resume until next week. For those of you taking potions, I have been able to convince Professor Slughorn to return to Hogwarts now that the danger is over so he will be returning to be your potions teacher for the remainder of the year. Now, everyone get a good nights rest. You all have earned it."
Draco, Pansy, and I all did not want to go to bed so we followed each other to the Medical Wing so we could sit with Atlantia for a little bit before bed. Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny also had the same idea so together we all stepped into the room and gather around Atlantia's bed. Now that I was not so exhausted, I could get a better look at how Atlantia looked.
Her skin was very pale and didn't hold the glow that her powers naturally gave her. I could tell, even though multiple blankets were covering her, that she was very skinny. I hate the idea that she used her powers so much that they started to eat her body instead of helping her.
"Do you think that she can finally have a chance to be normal?" Hermione asked, "I mean she hasn't had a break since she was five and she is now sixteen."
"Possibly." Harry says, "Tartarus is definitely dead after that and she knows of not many other enemies that could rise that can cause a big battle like Voldemort did last year or this past one." I nod agreeing there is no evidence that there is another big battle coming up in her future but only time will tell. I can only hope that nothing comes up because I'm not sure Atlantia's body can take another overuse of powers. We continue to chat over random things as we sat with Atlantia but then we all fall silent when we hear a groan coming from her.
All heads turn toward her hoping that she would awake, and when she opens her eyes, I just smile in relief.
