We spent the rest of the winter break at my apartment. Blaise told me that his mom hasn't even tried to contact him which upset him and I didn't blame him. If I had my mother yell at me that my choice of girlfriend was not up to her standard, even if it was a ridiculous standard, I would be upset. He and I actually began to talk to each other about what we would do after we finish this school year if we actually survived.
"Two years ago I would have said what my mom wanted me to be, an important member of the Ministry, but I don't think I want to be that anymore." He said holding the cup of coffee he was enjoying as we sat on my balcony.
I chuckle, "I know what you mean. Everyone figured I would become an Auror since I was pretty powerful and figured I would fit right in but I feel it isn't the job for me." I smile though as I remember something, "The Weasley twins told me I could always work with them in their joke shop."
"Do you think they would hire me?" Blaise asked teasingly. I laugh before a silence falls between us as we enjoyed the rest of our breakfast. When we begin to finish up our breakfast, Blaise said, "Maybe having a shop in Diagon Alley would be kinda nice."
I look at him surprised, "You mean our own little shop? Like selling our own product not working with others?"
"Yeah, we both don't want to have some desk job at the Ministry and we probably don't want to work in the mortal world. I mean having a shop selling something we are both passionate about would allow us to feel proud and happy of what we are doing. Also," He looks at me with hopeful eyes, "it may be something to pass down to our future children."
"I would like that." I say smiling, "But what would we sell in the shop?"
"We could have a business selling potions." Blaise suggested, "You make one of the best potions if not the best potions I have ever seen. Many agree so they would probably come and buy your potions. We could also set up a partnership with Fred and George with some of our potions since they do create potions to sell in their joke shop." It sounded nice and it gave me something else to fight for when Tartarus attacks. I mean it would break Blaise's heart but if I have to, I will die to make sure everyone is safe.
A few days later, we are on the Hogwarts Express heading back to Hogwarts. It was sort of depressing having to return because I knew that just meant the battle was creeping closer. I sat with my potion schedule in my hand as I planned out the next few weeks while Blaise was enjoying some candy from the cart when I hear multiple bangs on the top of the train. My head jerks up from the schedule in my hand making eye contact with Blaise.
"What was that?" Blaise asks worried.
"Stay here." I tell him getting up from my seat. He of course doesn't listen and follows me as everyone in the other compartments look out at me and Blaise. I give them a look and they stay right where they are as I make my way to the door connecting the train cars. I opened it and walked out onto the thin connection. I turn and hand Blaise a celestial bronze sword before jumping up onto the top of the train car. When I got up there, I saw two Gorgons standing there and I instantly recognized them.
"Stheno, Euryale." I say nodding at them as I summon my staff, "Long time no see."
"Atlantia," Stheno purred at me, "It has been a while. Seems you have moved on from your demigod life." She nods toward Blaise standing behind me, "got yourself a new man. Tell me does he know of your whole past?"
"Yep, and he has accepted that I have done some bad things in the past so you can skip the "turn my family against me" phrase." I say as I steady my staff against my shoulder.
She glared at me before her sister Euryale spoke, "Then I guess we have to go to the "reveal that we are not the only monsters here" phrase." I look at her sort of expecting it but was not expecting the gryphon to snatch Blaise from behind me. He screams in shock as he tries to stab his sword into the gryphon's stomach but the gryphon must have noticed the sword because the monster shakes Blaise hard enough in his claws to make him drop the sword. He still had his wand so he switched to magic to have the gryphon let him go which it does. Blaise lands on the opposite side of the train car as I stare down the two Gorgons. I was aware of the hellhounds running right next to the train as I steady the staff in my hand.
"Just like old times." I said grinning at them before running at them. The gorgons extended their claws and wings as they attacked me. With all the battles I have done in the last years, fighting these two were so easy. I easily slashed both of them in their stomach before stabbing the sharpened edges of my spear into their stomachs. They disappeared in golden dust so I knew they must have returned to a rebuilt Tartarus. Without even looking down, I summoned an earthquake and the ground opened as they hellhounds disappeared. I turn to Blaise who gave me a nod signaling he was fine. There were no more monsters so together Blaise and I made our way back inside and into our compartment. The only thing funny about the incident is that we both just went back to doing what we were doing before the battle not saying a word.
I thought with Blaise just dropping the incident by returning to what we were doing I wouldn't have to talk about it and examine Tartarus's intentions since I already knew what he was doing but that was ruined when Harry and the rest of those training with me come to the door.
"Atlantia, what just happened?" Harry asked leaning on the door. I could see the concern in his eyes but also worry and fear as he wonders if that was the beginning of the attack.
"It was just some monsters that Tartarus sent. It wasn't anything big. It's all good." I say tiredly as I looked back down at my planner adding the last few details to schedule for the year.
"No big deal?" Hermione said looking surprised at me, "How is it not that big of a deal? Monsters were just sent to attack you and you are acting like it wasn't that big."
"Because it isn't." I say looking at her with the exhaustion from having to deal with battles like this for many years, "That wasn't even the worse monsters Tartarus could send to me and there wasn't that much of them. He is just trying to exhaust me so when he attacks me for real, I will be weak and he can easily win." I close my eyes as I say this next part, "and you know what? He may actually be achieving that because I am so done with having to fight the monsters. I'm done having to be a hero but I know I can't be so yeah, fighting those monsters isn't really a big deal compared to what Tartarus has done to me in the past." I knew that I shouldn't be dumping my feelings on them at this moment since I should be helping them prepare for war but I was just a sixteen year old girl who just wanted some peace after already losing her family and almost losing her new one.
"Atlantia," Hermione said kneeling in front of me. "We know you are struggling right now but you do know we will be here with you in your fight with Tartarus. You will not be alone and we will help you be a hero again." She smirks at me, "And it's about time you acted your age and had a meltdown like the teenager your are." I punched her in the shoulder but it didn't have any force behind it.
"Thank you Hermione," I say softly as I pull her into a hug.
"Anytime, Atlantia...anytime." Hermione said as Harry cleared his throat.
"Ummm, while we are on the topic of Tartarus, what is the plan when we return to Hogwarts and our classes?" Harry asked, "In terms of the training sessions."
"My plan is to check your guys ability to use your magic and a sword in a battle." I begin, "I can bring us into one of my memories so you guys fight a battle that will closely resemble what will happen close to the end of the year."
"Sounds good but could you also add another training session so instead of meeting once a week, we could meet twice a week?" Ginny asked. I nod and said I could make it Saturday morning like normal but also Wednesday evening since that was one of the only days that I was free in the evening. With that clarified and everyone feeling better, the compartment was emptied as they all made their way back to their own compartments. I sigh as I lean into my seat rubbing my hands on my temperal.
"We will all survive this, Atlantia." Blaise said looking at me. He knew me too well, "You will too. I won't let you sacrifice yourself to ensure we win."
"I hope I don't have to Blaise, but..." I sigh as I look at him, "every time I fight a powerful being, someone dies. With Kronos, it was Clarisse. Gaea, Percy, Annabeth, Piper, Jason, Frank, Hazel, and Leo all died. Tartarus, literally everyone died. And with Voldemort, I died." I shake my head, "This time I hope it's different but I don't think it will be."
"I know it will be." Blaise said grabbing my hand. "Because before you were fighting on your own, but now you have Harry, Hermione, me, and everyone else fighting behind you. You will not have to watch us die and we don't have to watch you die again. I promise." I smile softly at that and just relax into Blaise's hold for the rest of the journey.
