"Any word from dad yet?" I ask mom as she serves us breakfast the next morning. Last night, dad had to go and do something. He had woke mom up to tell her but she hadn't heard what he had said. He did text her this morning and say that he was on his way home though. We were all waiting to see where he went. I figured he had to go and deliver a car that had been requested.
"Boys get in here!" My mom yelled for them to come and eat breakfast. "Nothing yet sweetie. He should be here soon."
We all sat down at the bar and was eating our breakfast when dad finally pulled in. He took forever to walk inside but when he finally did, I had to do a double look, and then even did a triple look. "Weston!?"
Weston was leaning on my dad as my dad helped him walk in the house. His face had dried blood all over it and was bruised. He didn't look good either. Under the blood I could tell he looked pale and I could definitely see the pain etched on his face.
"What happened?" My mom asked as she made her way over to them. I followed right behind her. "Why didn't you take him to the hospital?"
"He needs to rest for a little while and then he can go later." My dad says as he leads him to the couch.
"He can sleep in my room. He needs a bed, not a couch." I tell him. He looks to me to see the look in my eyes and then he just nods and leads him to my room. I go first and throw the clothes off my bed and pull the blankets back. My dad helped lower him onto the bed and I moved the pillows up for him.
"I'll go get the first aid kit and a warm rag." My dad says as he heads out of the room. My mom leaves us alone and I turn to Weston.
"Hey Blake." He says and gives me an innocent small smile. Just smiling made him wince with pain.
"Don't hey Blake me. What happened? I saw you less than 16 hours ago and you were perfectly fine. Did you get into an accident? Why didn't you stay here after you dropped me off last night?" I have so many questions for him.
"I wanted to get home so that I could take care of everything there before I had to come back up here next week. After I carried you inside and put you in bed last night, I decided to go ahead and go home. I was surrounded in my driveway as soon as I got out. Apparently my dad had a huge bar tab that he never paid and he skipped town. They wanted the money but I didn't have it then. I told them that I would get it and pay them but they didn't want to wait. They did this to prove their point."
"I'm so sorry Wes. Is there anything I can do to help?" I feel so bad for him. Not only did he get beat up but his dad left. I know they didn't have a good relationship but I also know Wes loved his dad and just wanted him to be healthy again.
"Some pain medicine maybe?" He asks and I nod.
"I have some right here." I dig through my drawer and pull out some Advil. I hand him that and an unopened water bottle that I had by my bed. I have a whole stash of water bottles because I'm too lazy to walk into the kitchen and get a drink at night.
I watch as he takes the medicine and leans back on the bed more. My dad came in with the first aid kit and my mom had a warm towel. She went to work on cleaning his face. I sat beside him and watched his face scrunch up in pain as she was cleaning.
Once she cleaned it, she put some antibiotic cream on it all. "Did they get you anywhere else?" She asks him.
"My rib cage and stomach." He tells her.
"Can I see it?" My mom asks. He moved the blanket down and pulled his shirt up, revealing his black and blue stomach.
"Damn son. I didn't know it was that bad." My dad said as he shook his head and walked out of my room. He came back in a few seconds later with an ice pack in his hands. "Use this to try to help the bruising and swelling. You are definitely going to the hospital."
