Shinso and I stood on opposite sides of the arena, facing each other. Shino's eyes were narrowed as his face gave off an indifferent feel. Though, anyone could tell he was far from indifferent. His fists were clenched at his sides as his eyes showed nothing but determination. He knew his original quirk isn't going to have any effect on me, seeing as I know what it is and how to avoid it. His best bet is to use one for all right off the bat and push me out of the arena.
While Hitoshi may have gotten better at using his borrowed quirk, he still couldn't handle long, drawn-out battles. He knows that, hence why his first attack has to be done all out. In order for me to win, I'll have to dodge and drawn this match out as long as possible. The longer the better. Once Shinso realizes this, he'll start losing his composure and start making reckless attacks. Once this happens I should be able to trick him and throw him out of the arena.
A whip-cracking down caused the stadium to go silent, everyone waiting in anticipation for the match that was about to start.
"Alright! The first match of the final round will be between Izuku Midoriya, a support course student, and Hitoshi Shinso, a student from class 1-A." Present Mic shouted from the announcer's booth. You could practically hear the excitement oozing off of him. After all, his son was about to go against one of his best friends. I could tell both of Shinso's dads were excited to see how this match would turn out.
"Alright fighters! On my mark!" Midnight shouted, a sadistic look taking over her face as she raised her whip-like weapon into the air.
Both Hitoshi and I got into our fighting stances, eyes locked as we waited for the indication we could start our fight. The cheering that had broken out when Mic announced us died down as the anticipation in the stadium rose. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes momentarily before opening them as I exhaled. I made sure to look Shinso in the eyes as a smirk took over my face. Much like me, a smirk appeared on his face as he stared me down.
This wasn't going to be another practice like the ones we have out on the beach. This was a serious fight, one where both sides will be giving it their all in order to come out victorious and on top. If Shinso were to beat me here, it'll show just how far he's come from middle school. If he's going to win, then I'm going to make him work for it.
A sudden loud crack filled the stadium, signaling the start of the fight. Yet, neither of us moved something that shocked me. I would have thought Hitoshi would have gone all out in his first attack in order to stand a chance to win. His actions have me confused. He knows he won't last in a drawn-out match, so why isn't he attacking? Is he waiting for me to make the first move? To see how I would react?
Seeing my confused face, Shinso's smirk grew bigger as he still refused to move. Well fine, he wants me to make the first move then I will. Narrowing my eyes, I shot forwards, aiming for a cheap shot at his throat, that way he won't be able to rely on his original quirk. But I guess since I sealed a good amount of my power, I was slower than I thought. Hitoshi managed to dodge my punch easily, sidestepping quickly and throwing a punch of his own.
Not expecting such a reaction, I wasn't able to dodge fully, resulting in me taking a powerful hit to the side of my stomach. I quickly jumped back and away from him, trying to get the air back into my lungs. But that didn't last long. Shinso, seeing my moment of weakness, didn't back off. Instead, he leaped forward with another punch, hitting me square in the face. The shock was clear on my face, something he took pride in. It wasn't easy to surprise me, much less twice in a row.
"Is that really all you've got Izuku? Come on, I thought you were stronger than that!" Shinso taunted, dropping down into a fighting stance and getting ready to launch forwards with another attack.
