"Get up! Get your ass up Shoto! I'm not gonna have a weak ass son like you become my legacy and ruin my chances at finally surpassing All Might! I've trained you better than this! I've trained you to take a punch like a fucking man, not some weak ass push over. Now get up! Until you can get it right, we'll continue this even if it takes all night!" Endeavor yelled at the poor eight-year-old Shoto Todoroki.
It's been almost four years since Enji started training Shoto, never going easy on the child. Training began the day after the incident, as everyone in the family called it. Still covered in bruises, the young Todoroki was dragged out of his room at five in the morning. Still half asleep the young child simply just followed his father as he was lead through numerous hallways. Suddenly being pushed into the ground, Shoto became wide awake, noticing he was in the family's training ground room. Not given a chance to react, Enji started to train the child, not giving much sympathy for the still injured boy and going all out. From that day forward, training was held six days a week, anywhere between four to eight hours long. How long and how tough training was all depended on Enji's mood that day, which unfortunately for Shoto, was almost always sour and pissed off. Training was in no way easy, constantly being punched around, being forced to push his quirk to the limits, Shoto now knew why Touya was always tired and in pain. The two boys were trained separately and at different times of the day, Endeavor's way of limiting outside contact for Shoto. It was bad enough Shoto was sent to live on the opposite side of the house from his siblings, his twin also nowhere in sight. It has been almost four years since he last saw his siblings, any of them. He wasn't always alone though, he did have his twin at one point, along with his mother. But due to an accident, his mother was sent away and Shoto hasn't seen her or his twin. He actually had no idea what happened to his twin, just that he woke up one morning and he was gone. When he asked Endeavor he was meet with a fist to the face and told to never mention him again.
Shaking his head of his current thoughts, Shoto slowly and shakily stood up after he had received a rather harsh punch from his father. He activated his right side, ice slowly crawling its way up his leg and arm. He looked up, meeting his father's eyes, mirroring the anger that seemed to burn bright within them. Endeavor, seeing the look in his son's eyes, smirked before fulling activating his quirk. The heat seemed to roll off him in waves, heating up the more he let his anger take control. After all, how dare this small child look upon him, glaring at him straight in the eyes with no fear. It was about high time the child learned who was really in charge.
"Took you long enough. You're too slow, get up faster next time. Quite glaring at me, I wouldn't be this rough with you if you were actually smart and caught on faster. Only the weak stay down, and I'm not going to have a weak son. Now, why don't you stop your silly childish games and fight back for real, use your firepower Shoto!" Endeavor yelled, only serving to make the child more angry. Shoto rushed forwards, ice spreading along in front of him, completely ignoring his father's demand to use his left side, his cursed side. He refused to use that cursed half of his quirk, given to him by his good for nothing father. He was going to become a hero solely relying on his right side.
"Never! I'll never use that half of my quirk! I'll prove you wrong with my own power!" The young child yelled as he attacked his father. His words made said man snarl in fury, simply knocking the boy to the side with a flick of his hand. His fire easily putting out Shoto's ice, he advanced towards the fallen child, grabbing him by his hair and reeling a flame coated fist back.
"This ought to teach you to talk back to me!"

"Faster Shoto! Your reaction time needs to be faster!" Endeavor yelled at the now nine-year-old Shoto. He was currently in the training room with his father, practicing his dodging and reaction skills while Endeavor shot fireballs towards him. They had been at this all day, reaching well past the normal eight-hour rule. Shoto was sweating profusely, face flushed and chest heaving, trying to gather as much air as he could before he had to dodge another fireball. He was told not to use his quirk, to focus solely on his own body limits and not to rely on it. Shoto knows that's not the truth though, he just didn't want Shoto to use his quirk as a means to punish him. He still refused to use his left side, using and training his right side up.
