It's been a week since I've turned in my application, meaning Endeavor should be finding out any day. Lucky for me, he's been out of town on some hero business for the past week. Unlucky for me, he gets back today. Hopefully, I'll be able to avoid him for a few days before having to face him.
"Izuku! Get your ass downstairs right now!" Or maybe luck wasn't on my side. Looks like I'll be facing Enji today after all.
Sighing, I got off my bed before opening my bedroom door and stepping into the hallway. Shoto was peaking his head out his door, looking at me with worry in his eyes.
"Is this about your application?" He asked.
"I think so. Don't worry, I'll be fine. Natsuo is getting out of his classes early today, so he should be home any minute. And ever since To-, ever since that incident, Endeavor hasn't done anything to us in front of him. So I'll be fine. Just go back to your room, I'll come to visit when we're done talking." I said, smiling reassuringly at him. He looked hesitant but retreated back into his room, nonetheless after a look that told me to be careful.
Taking a deep breath, I made my way downstairs, not wanting to keep Enji waiting any more than I already have. Reaching the bottom, I made my way to the dining room, where I know Enji will be waiting for me. Walking through the door, I immediately see the devil himself sitting at the table, arms crossed, his flames sputtering everywhere to reflect his silent anger. Gulping, I slowly made my way to sit in front of him, sitting down quietly.
He cracks an eye open to see who was sitting in front of him, opening the other once he realized it was me. We just stared at each other, eyes intensely staring at each other. Neither of us said anything, opting to just bask in our emotions, his anger, and I nervousness, as we continued to hold a starring contest. Finally, Enji uncrossed his arms, causing me to flinch, thinking he was going to hit me.
When nothing came, I opened my eyes and saw he placed a packet of papers down on the table. Looking closer, I noticed it was a copy of the application I turned in, mine not his. Gulping, I looked back up, meeting Enji's eyes as he held a stoic and calm expression. But I know that look is all an act. Inside he's seething with rage, wanting nothing more than to start throwing hands.
"Want to explain to me why this application is nothing like the one I gave you?" He said evenly, his tone doing nothing to hide the fire burning in his eyes.
"It's the application I wanted to turn in. I didn't want to lie on an official UA application, especially one you created. I want to-" I started, staring at my hands as I spoke before getting cut off by an angry snarl.
"Boy! I did everything for you! That application would have gotten you into the hero course, into class 1-A no less! And this is how you repay me! I was even going as far as to get you in through recommendation! And instead of following my plans for you, you decide to go against me! Applying for the Support Course of all things! Let's see how well you fair without my recommendation! Now, get the hell out of my sight!" His fist caught fire, burning the papers in front of him once he slammed his hand down onto the table.
"Fine by me. I never wanted your help, much less your recommendation. I'll show you I can become a hero of my own accord and not by you pulling strings." I said, deadly calm, standing up as I spoke and making my out of the dining room. "I refuse to be your pawn anymore. From here on out, I'll be making my own choices and decisions regarding my future." I spoke, looking Enji dead in the eyes, a burning feeling of accomplishment flowing through my veins as I turned and started to make my way towards the stairs.
I could hear Endeavors rage fit commencing behind me, the sound of wood hitting walls and fire licking up at anything and everything. Good thing mostly everything in the house is fireproof, or we'd all be dead within minutes.
