I hurried up stairs and into my room, overly eager to get into my comfy pyjama pants and a thick warm sweater. The residing heat of the sweaty club-goers had warmed the entire club up and the second I walked inside, I was hit with the cold of Boston nights.
Hadeon had been in the shower when I first got into the apartment and, once I had changed, I waited on the couch he slept on for him to come out.
He stepped out into the living room in grey sweatpants and no shirt, the cold apparently not getting to him. Shirtless, I could see now that he didn't have as many tattoos as I'd thought, the ones he did have were spaced out over his arms and his torso was completely blank aside from a pair of dancing skeletons on the left side of his stomach. It was cartoony and juvenile, very different from the shaded realism of his other tattoos.
I pulled my eyes away from his shirtless body and met his eyes, which were stony as he glared at me. I jumped up from the couch and faced him."I wanted to say thank you, for helping me with that guy in there." I rushed. "It was really nice of you to do that."
"I wasn't being nice." He mumbled. "There was a line starting behind him.""Oh," I sighed. "Okay. Well, thank you anyway. I couldn't seem to get him to leave."
"That is why you shouldn't be a bartender. Hell, you shouldn't even be working at the club at all." He outburst. "At least now you know you don't belong in that job."
"Hey!" I shouted. "I had one problem customer, but other than him I think I did a good job.""You shouldn't be working in a bar full of sleazy drunk guys if you don't know how to turn them down."
"What is your problem with me?!" I shot back. "I don't care if you don't like me, but if you are going to keep trying to get rid of me, I'd like to know why."
"You're naive and way too nice. The whole time you're here, I'm stuck babysitting you."
"Then don't!" I laughed. "Stop babysitting me, give up and let me figure shit out for myself. I thanked you because you did help, but I don't need that help if afterwards you are just going to berate me for it."
"You want me to just sit back, watch you get hit on by douchebags all night?"
"Sounds good to me!" I cried before stomping back to my room and slamming the door.
Hadeon made me so infuriated, I could feel my blood boiling in my veins. He complained about being naive, but that's what he wanted me to be. He wanted me to give up working at the club, and go back to life in Sunshine. But that was something I'd never do.
