The next week was a blur of stolen kisses and knowing side glances. Hadeon and I both agreed; Jessica could never find out.

So, when Jessica asked me about the red mark under my jaw, I panicked.

"Burnt myself!" I spat out, a little to forcefully. I fake-chuckled lightly before explaining. "Hair straightener."

"You have a hair straightener?" She asked.

A customer approached the bar. Jess turned to serve them, giving me an extra minute to think. I did not have a hair straightener, and I doubted Jess had one based on the coarse, thick curls framing her head. I don't think hair straighteners work on hair like that.

Jess faced back to me, awaiting my answer.

"I did. I had a small travel one, but it practically exploded in my hair, which is how I burnt myself. I threw it out after that."

"Oh, okay." She nodded, skepticism written on her face.

"I think I'm gonna go on my break." I announced. Jess waved her hand in my direction and I marched off into her office.

I closed the door and sat on her desk, used to this particular routine at this point.

Soon after, Hadeon snuck into the room. He wasted no time, burying one hand in my hair and squeezing my thigh as he captured my mouth with his. I melted into him, my hands pressed firmly against his shirt, his hard but wiry stomach warm under my palms. For a second, I lost my train of through completely. But when he moved down to kiss my neck, that train found itself back on track. I pushed him away lightly and slid off the desk landing feet first with a thud.

"What the hell is this?" I demanded, pulling my sweater down by the hickey even though it was visible without moving my collar.

Hadeon's thumb lightly grazed the rosy circle of skin before placing a soft kiss on the bruise.

"That, innocent young Violet, is a hickey." He joked. He pulled my shirt down the reveal the top of my collarbone. "Let me demonstrate." Was all he said before leaning in.

I pushed him back again before he could.

"Jess saw it!" I squealed. "We had an agreement."

"I know, I know. Jess can't find out." He stepped back and shoved his hands in his pockets. "But, who says it's even from me."

My eyebrow shot into my hairline. "You're right." I agreed sharply. "For all I know, it could be from all the other guys I make out with on a daily basis."

"Vi, you know I didn't mean it like that." He smirked. The room was lit only by two fake gaslit lamps hanging over the desk. The orange light made his skin looked golden and his eyes sparkle.

"In fact, I think some of those guys are here." I started towards the closed door. "Let me go kiss one of them to make sure Jess definitely doesn't suspect you."

Hadeon rushed between the door and me. The cheeky grin on his face showed he knew I was joking, but the way his eyes darkened made it obvious even joking about kissing other guys made him jealous.

"Hadeon, my boyfriends are waiting for me."

He wrapped his arms tight around my waist, lifting me up so our faces were at the same height. I closed the gap between our mouths and kissed him, each movement reassuring him that he is the one I want. My legs hugged his torso, pulling him closer to me.

Hadeon stepped forward until my back met the silky paper lining the walls. He steadied me to the wall and unintentionally grinded against my core. A small whisper of a moan escaped my mouth. He pulled his lips from mine to smile, before repeating that move. My thighs clenched against him and I pulled his head down to kiss me again.

One arm scooped under my ass, holding me up effortlessly as I pulled my shirt over my head. His dark eyes raked over my almost naked chest as he licked his lips. Our mouths were drawn back to each other like magnets.

His hand traced my jaw, then continued down as we kissed. His calloused fingers followed down the side of my neck, across my collarbone down my cleavage that was seriously improved by the push-up bra I wore. His hand then grasped at my breast, sending sparks of pure bliss across my body. I felt his arousal against me through his pants, which only spurred on the burn that travelled down to my core.

I had never been touched like this, never been kissed like this.

A fist rapped loudly against the door, sending Hadeon and I scrambling away from each other.

"Violet, your breaks up!" Jess yelled through the door, her voice fading throughout the sentence like she was walking away as she spoke.

Hadeon grinned, the adrenaline rush of danger exciting him. I felt it too, but didn't show it. I grabbed my shirt from the floor and pulled it back over my head. I turned to Jess's ornate mirror and un-disheveled my hair.

Hadeon watched intently.

"What?" I demanded. "Why are you staring?"

"You're beautiful."

Even without a mirror directly in front of me, I would have been able to tell that my face was burning bright red and a smile was carved helplessly across my cheeks.

"You're not too bad yourself." I hummed, trying and failing to calm down the butterflies in my stomach.

Hadeon crossed the room and held my face in his hands.

"I mean it, Violet." He promised. "You are beautiful."

I gulped down how nervous he made me, how afraid I was of his serious brown eyes. I kissed him on the cheek then left the room, fighting the urge to turn back around and smile.

Hadeon was perfect... and he was mine.
