The bar looked a lot more intimidating now.

Or more likely, the thought of seeing Jess and Hadeon again was intimidating.

I gave Ty a quick rundown of what was happening and tried not to be offended when he looked relieved. I promised to keep in touch and warned him to drive away quickly to avoid Hadeon.

I hurried up the steps and to the door to the apartment, trying to ride the small ounce of bravery I had before it disappeared. I barely knocked before the door flung open and Jess wrapped her arms around me.

"You idiot!" She shouted, arms squeezing me so hard I could barely breathe.

"I know." I laughed quietly.

When she pulled back her eyes checked for cuts and bruises.

"Jess, I'm fine. Really."

"A miracle, that is."

"You already gave me this lecture, Jess."

Jess nodded and stepped aside to let me in.

"Good to have you back, kid." Jack said, patting my shoulder awkwardly.

I nodded quickly, my eyes jumping around to try to spot Hadeon.

"Hadeon's downstairs." Jack explained. "He probably saw you show up, he'd be up in a second to say hi."

The blood drained from my face. If he saw me, he probably saw Ty, and is probably furious right now.

"I bought you some new clothes." Jess said. "I missed you and I know you need some so I stress-shopped."

"Can you return it?" I asked.

"Ripped off the tags." She smiled. "Come, I'll show you."

I followed my sister into my room. I spotted my suitcase, stuffed under the bed, and the closet doors were wide open.

"You went through my stuff?" I asked. I had nothing to hide, and didn't mind, but felt a little exposed having Jess see my clothes.

"Actually, Hadeon did. He did it when I wasn't home. He was trying to find clues or whatever to figure out where you went. I already reamed him about it, don't you worry. Anyway, I tidied it up and put your clothes in the wardrobe."

"Oh, thanks." The thought of Hadeon going through my things horrified me, but I'll worry about that later.

My eyes roamed over the new clothes hanging up. I pulled out a couple things and said they "look pretty", but I doubted I'd ever wear most of them.
