I cry out in pain as he kicks my stomach. “Ple-“ I try to spit out my cry of pleas but he only kicks harder. A small whimper leaves my lips.
“Stop your whining kid.” He says as he leans down next to me. I flinch, but don’t feel him hit me. Instead I feel him lock something around my hands. I look at my hands. Handcuffs. I shake my head furiously at him as I try to get up. As soon as I get to my knees I double over in pain. The pain in my body and head is becoming worse and worse by the second.
I see him walk over to a counter across the room. My eyes go wide as I see what he picks up from the counter. A gun.
“Why a-are you doing this to me?”
“Because I hate you.” He says simply as he walks over to me once again.
“But w-why do you hate me.” I tried to sound confidant with my words, but failed as the pain was to much to bare.
He looked at me directly in the eye. It was then and only then that I had realized who he truly was. A tear slid down my cheek. “Please, n-no.”
“Oh, yes. Thought after I went to prison that you wouldn't see me again did you?” He chuckled and put the gun into his other hand and put his free hand against my cheek. I moved my head away from his hands.
“I’m back, and now I’m going to-“ He was cut off by the sound of police sirens outside of the market. ‘James’ I thought.
“You and your stupid boyfriend led them here, didn’t you?!” He stood up, kicking me once more in my stomach and my head also. I could feel myself getting dizzy as my vision blurred. I could see the faint outline of the man I thought I once loved, my father, walk out the door still holding the gun. I could hear yelling coming from outside the door and gun shots.
After the first two shots fired, I forced myself up. I had to see what was happening. I crawled over to the door, opening it and peeping out. Two people were laying on the ground. I couldn’t tell who they were, my vision was fading fast. “Lexi,” I heard the faint call of my name. I looked over to the one talking. It was a police officer. He held out his hand, and I took it.
He helped me up and started walking me over to the door. I could see an ambulance out there along with more police cars.
It wasn’t until we were by the bodies laying on the ground that I had clearly seen who they were. My father was laying sprawled out with a bullet wound through his stomach. Laying across from him was his gun and.. James. My knees buckled and I felt myself fall to the floor next to him. One more look at the paled beautiful face before everything went black.
