Chapter 1: Tranquil Days; Part 1

"Haaiiiiii~"

A long yawn escaped from my mouth as I boarded the elevator and pressed the button for the lowest floor. Luckily, there was no one else with me so I didn't have to worry about embarrassing myself with such behavior. 

I don't know why but people find it rude when someone yawns in front of them. I personally think that it's nothing of the sort. But since I was also a part of the society and constantly surrounded by the people, it was better I comply with what the norm with the people was. 

After the elevator reached the lowest floor the door opened and I stepped out.

Immediately, I was called out by an energetic voice.

"Hey, Ayanokoji-kun!"

Waving her hands in the air, she called out to me, with a smile a bit too dazzling for me.

"Hey. Good morning, Ichinose."

I said to her when she got to where I was.

"Good morning, Ayanokoji-kun."

She replied, washing my sleepiness, with her smile.

The one who had approached me and casually started walking side by side me was none other than the leading figure of Class C, Ichinose Honami.

She was liked and respected by everyone from our grade, and seniors and juniors alike. She was too good for her own good. She always wished well for others and put others before herself. No wonder, everyone liked her. 

She was beautiful as well and cheerful as always. Many boys were head over heels for her. And when the other boys who were in the lobby saw her approach me and talk to me, they were glaring at me. Their killing intent leaking out from those eyes.

Well, they know themselves that it was just like Ichinose to talk casually with any boy so, surely they wouldn't mind.

I at least hoped that they wouldn't mind.

"Your class got pretty much beaten in that last test, huh."

Said Ichinose as we started heading towards the school building. 

"Well, it was pretty difficult given the test and the fact that we were against Class A."

It was true that we had lost quite spectacularly but half of it was because of the test conditions and the opponent was Class A. But it also meant that half of the fault lies upon us.

"Well, don't worry! You will definitely have a chance for a fightback in the next special exam."

She said trying to cheer me. I honestly admired this side of her that cared for others without any ulterior motives or anything of the sort. She was a pure, good-natured human. I honestly can't think that there are many people like her.

"I hope so."

"Good morning, Ichinose-san!"

"Ah, Chiho-chan, good morning!"

We were nearing the school building when a petite student with short hair called out to her. She was one of her classmates from Class C. She was accompanied by two other girls, probably from the same class.

Saying that Ichinose ran towards the girls.

I watched her go for a while and started walking towards the school when her voice reached me from afar.

"Ayanokoji-kun, see you around!"

Saying that she turned around and started walking towards the school, chatting happily with her friends. While on the other hand, I felt as if the number of evil gazes on me had just increased.

Honestly, Ichinose, I hope you please stop doing that, or else I am going to be murdered by one of them, one of these days.

Heaving a sigh internally so early in the morning, I made my way towards my classroom.
