Here's a poem inspired by a painting of the same name by Stephanie Law. You can see the painting on her website here: https://www.shadowscapes.com/image.php?lineid=0&bid=1098
Amidst the brambles, the faery sleeps
Let's tiptoe by, not a sound, not a peep
For yesternight, merry company did she keep
With her friends she played, in bounds and leaps
Her gossamer wings in pale moonlight
Their diaphanous sheen shone so bright
Now they lie folded by her side
As she sleeps sated like a bashful bride
Belladonna, Shade of Night
Radiant sprite, you shine so bright
Golden pearls adorn your hair
Scent of sweet blossoms in the air
Oh, Belladonna of the Night of Stars
Wherever you dance, wherever you are
The tunes you hum, your repertoire
Sing again for us before you say au revoir.
