It was just a stupid note. A singular crinkled piece of parchment. Regulus should not be as nervous to open it as he currently was.
After breakfast Regulus had thought that his two friends would press to know what was in the note but neither of them seemed to care. Emmeline had been fiercely dragged away from Lily and Regulus when the three of them exited the Great Hall. It was the girls from her dorm that Regulus had grown to strongly dislike in the last two months for two simple reasons. Firstly they seemed to require lots of Emme's attention which obviously took away from his time with her.
The second reason was the very specific look they were giving Lily and Regulus- a look they consistently gave him. Regulus didn't know what it was and Lily seemed to just shrug it off so he did too, but it still bothered him.
After that Regulus didn't really feeling like hanging out anymore and Lily must have picked up on it because when they both entered the Slytherin common room she let go of his arm. "I think I might actually go find Marlene, the Gryffindor girl in my charms class I was telling you about the other day? She had said she wanted me to braid her hair for the match," she told him with a soft smile on his face.
"Plus," she added as she lightly nudged Regulus's arm that was attached to his hand that was buried deep in his pants pocket clutching to single letter from James Potter. "You have some reading to do." Then Lily Evans sauntered out of the room with her glorious ginger locks following right behind her, and if Regulus watched her skirt sway as she left no one noticed.
Now Regulus was sitting cross-legged on his bed in silence with the note in front of him. He hadn't read it yet, nor had he even unfold it. He was just staring at it. He wished he had more time to just stare at it- as if the last half hour wasn't enough- but he never got that wish when one of his dorm mates burst into the room.
It was Andy, and he didn't seem to have seen Regulus yet. He was crying. A chill was sent down Regulus' spine- he hated when people cried in front of him. Regulus snatched the note from his bed and stuffed it under his pillow before standing up and facing the half blood.
"What's wrong with you?" Regulus asked sharply and maybe he should have phrased it differently because upon hearing Regulus and turning to look at him, Andy completely broke out into loud child like wailing.
Regulus thought he was going to throw up from this whole interaction. He couldn't tell if it was a good or bad thing when their two other roommates burst into their dormitory.
But then the two boys saw their sobbing mess of a friend who was leaning over on with his hands on his knees, and they saw Regulus standing over him with a facial expression that reflected mostly disgust with his hand gripping Andy's shoulder. They decided Regulus was the bad guy here.
"What did you do to him?!" they shouted at Regulus.
It was bad that they were here. "I didn't do anything!" Regulus snapped back and took his hand off Andy and put them up in surrender. "I was already in the room and he just burst in crying already!"
This immediately calmed the other two. "Then what happened to you?" one of them turned to Andy who had stopped crying but was still a heaving mess. The boy just shook his head.
Even Regulus knew that pulling out his wand wasn't a good idea, and yet the smaller mudblood of the two pulled out his wand and spoke proudly," if it's sickness you're feeling I've been practicing some healing spells!"
Andy's face paled and his tears seemed to stream down his face harder and faster. He was quite pasty as is, like Regulus, and in his freaked out state Regulus was worried his skin would seem almost translucent. Andy had these luscious golden curls on his head that fell in front of his face and he just pulled at the ends. Regulus could have taken a guess what this kid was feeling, probably similar to how Regulus felt after he has done something to disappoint his parents.
