Since coming back to Hogwarts from the holiday break, the world was changing around Regulus, and fast. He tried his best to keep his daily life the same. Every morning Lily would tie his tie and they'd walk to breakfast, catching up from the day before. Then when she'd disappear with Snape or the Gryffindors, he'd spend every second he could with Emmeline, and Andy. Regulus hated to admit it but the three of them had gotten along pretty well.

Regulus wasn't originally a fan of Andrew, but as he had promised, they begun attempting to teach him magic. He was terrible and they've both been hurt multiple times, and within four days Regulus gave up. He went to Emmeline.

She laughed in his face. "That is the most Regulus thing you could have ever done in the entire world, make a promise to help someone but hate every minute of it. I'm in just to see you all grouchy." And he was, all of the time.

Their favorite spot was nearly the edge of the school at the wooden bridge. As if there wasn't a rocky canyon below them, the three young wizards ran, climbed, and jumped all around the bridge.

Regulus was dangling off the wooden railing as his friends practiced on the bridge. It rocked with every step that Andy took but Regulus didn't care. He liked the feeling when his blood rushed to his brain and just for a moment he stopped feeling, till he snapped his head back up and stared at the sky waiting for his body to level, before he flipped his back over the edge again. His mother cut his two days before he went back to school but it was growing fast and was falling over his ears, and he could have sworn the days in the sun was making it lighter. Regulus hated that it was also less curly by the day. He would run his fingers through it and pull at the ends and most days he wakes up and its small simple waves.

"Okay you go stand over there and then run at me full speed," Emmeline called out and her voice echoed below the bridge and through the canyon ringing slightly in Regulus' ears. He reached above him and gripped onto the wood as he slid his body up and out from under the bridge.

"What are you guys doing now?" he asked as he dusted off his pants and took a stance beside Emmeline.

It was finally the weekend and the sun was shining bright despite the bitter chill that whipped in the air every few moments. Emmeline had a stop knit cap on her head and her hair was entirely French braided and ended down her back. She wore jeans that flared at the bottom and her new favorite pair of leather boots she had gotten the past Christmas. Regulus didn't think they went with every outfit, but she was confident in them and she refused to take them off. They were all wearing sweaters but Regulus had his navy sleeves rolled up past his elbows as he pulled his wand out of the waistband of his black and grey plaid pants.

"Let's duel, we've been doing this for weeks now, let's just see how much you know," He offered and casually shrugged his shoulders.

"This is a terrible idea, let's at least get off the bridge before you flip poor Andy into the rocks," Emme laughed as she bent down to pick up her book bag and tossed Andy his jacket that he piled on top of hers.

"Regulus please refrain from throwing me into rocks, or anywhere, please," Andy didn't sound desperate, his voice was calm and still and he had shown them a side Regulus would have never expected.

But he was still Regulus Black, and he let out a small chuckle," It's not my fault you are just now learning magic."

"Alright on the count of three," Emmeline was going to count them off. Regulus let Andy stand by Emmeline as he crossed the courtyard. He tossed his coat on the floor and turned sharply on his heels when he thought he was a well enough distance from his mudblood roommate.

"It's just going to be too easy," he muttered to himself as he raised his chest and eyed the boy across from him. Andy was practically shaking already.

"Wait what if I forget?!" Andy shouted in a tense break of pressure and Emmeline laughed so loud the crows in the yard quickly scattered away.
