Fifteen minutes after being wrapped in warm blankets Regulus was starting to finally relax. He was never particularly bothered by the cold. As children, Sirius was always the one who required one or more jackets and wouldn't go out in the snow unless he was completely bundled up, whereas Regulus enjoyed the chilling feeling. One jacket was sufficient for him, yet despite appreciating a good chill Regulus adored- to the upmost extent- basking in the sun.
Regulus loved being warm. He liked when the fire pit was raving and the room was perfectly toasty. He liked being under the warm hospital blankets and he loved when hot chocolate burned his tongue and throat. Regulus had found a moment of peace with his eyes closed as he happily sipped his drink.
Regulus also liked the warm feeling that erupted in his chest when Sirius Black, James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew came burst through the hospital wing doors.
"Didn't I say don't fall off the boat?!" Sirius yelled first. His arms flapped and his hair fell in his face as he let out an exasperated sigh. "Seriously Reggie, you could have gotten sick!"
"Oh are you Sirius Black?" Emmeline peaked over Regulus' body at his brother fussing over him. Sirius stopped pushing Regulus' hair from his face and stood up straight.
"And you must be the girl he foolishly jumped into a freezing lake for?"
"Sirius!" Regulus, James, and Remus all scowled at the same time. James looked down at Regulus while Regulus looked up at James. Remus just rolled his eyes at Sirius and began telling him about how Regulus' actions were noble and he saved Emmeline's life.
Nonetheless, Sirius scoffed. "Quiet Remus! I'm just saying that it's her fault if Regulus gets sick from the cold-"
"Sirius!" James groaned once again," she's eleven! She didn't mean to fall over."
"I'm twelve," Emmeline corrected. Regulus sat up straight his shoulder blade knocking into the elbow of James Potter who was slightly leaning over the bed not expecting him to sit up.
"You're older than me?" Regulus groaned with a soft shake of his head.
"Apparently," she said but then sat up properly and turned to them. Sirius had decided that the four Gryffindors were gonna stay and so he sat on the end of Regulus' bed. The younger brother pulled his feet to his chest to make room and motioned for Remus and Peter to also sit on the bed. James stayed standing but he shuffled closer to the bed and his fingers danced on top of the blanket merely centimeters from Regulus' arm that rested in his lap.
"Technically I'm still eleven, but I'll be twelve tomorrow, so yes I'm twelve and older then you Reggie," Emmeline poked at him and Regulus turned sharply.
He liked her. He knew she was going to be a great friend, but no one calls him Reggie except for Sirius, so he said," Don't call me Reggie. It's Regulus or Reg. That's it."
"Hey I had to call you Regulus Black," James pretended to pout and he nudged Regulus' arm.
Regulus nodded at him and drew in the warm feeling of James' fingers. "Well she's my friend," Regulus said with a serious tone and continued with," and you're just Sirius' friend."
There was a low audible 'well then' from Remus Lupin which made Peter crack a smile which made Remus smile and the two of them smiling at each other's stupidity made them break out into a small fit of laughter. Having finished his drink Regulus moved to place his cup on the bedside table, but James' dark fingers wrapped around his own stealing the cup from him as his other hand was placed against his shoulder keeping Regulus from leaning off the bed.
