Tommy was sitting on his bed, staring at nothing in particular. He couldn't stand the fact that now both of his brothers were dead. He didn't know why they were dead. Why didn't I give Schlatt the book? He thought. He knew he could bring Technoblade back soon, once he figured out how, but Dream had said Wilbur wanted to remain dead.
"You alright?" Dream said after a moment. It was getting late. Tommy nodded weakly, staring at the floor. His eyes hurt from crying so much and he knew Dream would never let him live this down. Tears still streaked down his face as he sat there, thinking over everything and trying to figure out what exactly had just happened. Suddenly Dream flinched and fell backwards onto his bed. Tommy knew he was having another one of those visions but right now he could only think about himself. He knew it was selfish but right now he just couldn't process more than what was going on inside him.
"Dream calm down," he managed to say. He had tried over and over to do what Techno had done but no matter how hard he tried he could never managed to calm Dream down. "We need to bring Technoblade back, he can help you and he can help us defeat Schlatt," Tommy said after a moment. Dream started twitching again and Tommy lowered his head onto his hands, unable to even try to help his friend at the moment.
"They all need to die!" Dream snarled after a moment. Tommy didn't even look up. He had said things like this and far worse and now Tommy couldn't sleep. He remembered Dream actually tried to kill him a little earlier in the night but Tommy had managed to defend himself until Dream had for some reason crumpled to the ground with his head on his knees and stay still for around an hour, muttering about killing people and burning things and such.
We're such a sorry bunch without Techno. Tommy thought. The others had gone into the woods to sleep, saying that it was better that they spread out, while Tommy and Dream had chosen to go back to Dream's house, not really caring if they were to get caught. At least with Techno, we had someone to tell us we could do it, that we were going to be fine. Tommy thought. At least I had someone who cared about me. No one had cared for Tommy the way Techno had and he hadn't been able to see his brother's love for him until it was too late.
'I hate when you do this, you get all mad at me and then we end up losing something irreplaceable.' Tommy remembered all the things his brother had said to him just moments before he had taken his last breath. The thing we lost was him. Tommy thought.
'You've tried to kill me so many times, why shouldn't I try just this once?'
'Because you'd succeed.' Tommy felt a fresh wave of grief wash over him as he remembered the strange look in Techno's eyes. That look was love. He thought. And I couldn't see it. He clenched his eyes shut for a moment, a few tears sliding down his cheek. They tasted salty and Tommy shook his head slowly.
'Tommy, let me die a hero rather than a villain.' Tommy remembered staring up at his brother on that rock, he remembered the look in Techno's eyes, like he knew what was about to happen to him and he knew he'd be able to face it. He could have done anything if he wanted to, he could have been the leader of everyone in our lands and no one would have raised a finger to stop him, and if they did he'd be able to beat them whether with his words or his fists. Tommy thought, choking on his sorrow. He didn't fight it anymore as more tears flowed out of his eyes and landed on the wood floor below him.
'Hey Tom,' Tommy looked up as he heard a voice and gasped, choking again, as he saw Technoblade sitting beside him on the bed. He couldn't find words to express what he was feeling and instead just stared, probably looking dumb as heck, at his brother. 'Why are you crying?' Techno asked.
"Because you're gone." Tommy breathed. "And Wilbur's gone and now I have no one." Techno shook his head and smiled.
'Nah,' Techno said. 'I'm right here, buddy.' Tommy found himself smiling slightly as he stared up at Technoblade.
"I don't know how to bring you back," Tommy said.
'Don't worry about me right now, you're the leader Tom Tom,' Techno said with a grin. 'And sheep always follow the leader.' Techno stood up and walked over to Dream, resting a hand on his friend's shoulder. All of a sudden, as if he sensed Techno's presence, Dream relaxed and closed his eyes, sighing with relief. Techno turned his bright blue gaze onto him and smiled once more before he vanished in a flicker of pink.
"No, don't leave," Tommy stood up, stumbling and almost falling onto the floor. "Techno, please don't leave me again." He said, his voice cracking.
'You're the leader, Tommy.' A voice reached him quietly and he knew it was Techno. I'm the leader? He thought, gazing at Dream. I can't be the leader of an army if I can't even take care of my one friend. He thought. I'll never be able to defeat Schlatt without my brothers by my side. He thought.
"Tommy?" Tommy turned as Dream said his name.
"Yes?" he asked weakly.
"You're the only friend that's been loyal to me, even after I tried to kill you a few times." Dream said.
"Only this once, and a lot had happened, I don't blame you," Tommy said.
"No," Dream sighed. "The reason Techno tried to kill me in the snow? Because I said I was going to kill you." Tommy's eyebrows creased. "When he sent me away into the snow it was because I once again said I would kill you, and then he came back for me and gave me another chance. When he was holding me against a wall it was because I was holding an ax above your head."
"You lied?" Tommy breathed, shocked.
"I just thought you should know." Dream shrugged, sitting up and staring at him. "He took me to the top of that tower in L'manburg the night before I was supposed to be executed by you because he wanted me to see one more sunset and when I begged him to spare me he said that I was never going to die. He told me to take my mask off and that if I did so you wouldn't be able to shoot me. He told me my face had a way of making people feel guilty, I didn't understand that then but now I do." Dream sighed.
"You tried to kill me...? All that time..." Tommy muttered. Techno was only even trying to protect me and I hurt him so much. Tommy remembered punching his brother in the face repeatedly. Had he broken his nose? If he had Techno hadn't complained. He sobbed again, not caring if Dream heard his anguished noises.
"I'm really only alive because he put his personal problems aside to care for me." Dream shrugged. Tommy looked at the ground. He felt so bad. How could I not see that? He thought. How did I ever think Techno hated me? He thought. All he ever did was love me and all I did was reject him.
I know Techno never dies but... well he just died in my book. Is Dream willing to bring Techno back? And if not why? Also... why would Jschlatt need the book if all it did was bring people back to life? No one he cares about is dead. Is there more to this book than Dream and the others know about? Aight. Drink water and stuff :)
