Dream sat down in the grass, leaning up against a tree. He sighed and opened the book, he'd never actually read it but he wanted to see what else it could do. He knew Tommy missed Technoblade but he wasn't sure he wanted to bring his friend back just yet, he didn't know why he just felt so conflicted. He should miss Techno, he should want to bring him back but yet... he felt so angry and tired and he knew it was because of the visions.
I'm not going to get better without Techno. Dream thought. But I can't bring him back. He added, looking up after a moment. He saw something flash and all of a sudden there was a man standing in front of him. Dark green hoodie and white smiley mask. Dream held his breath as he noticed the bloodstains on the mask and the long crack that revealed a singular eye, his eye.
"Go away," He growled, beginning to shiver with fear.
"I can't go away, I'm you." The man cackled, stepping forwards. His green hoodie was torn and stained in places with what could only be blood and he had a netherite blade that had matching stains. "I'm waiting." The voice was cold, sharp like ice, and his glistening blue eye didn't help reduce the chill Dream suddenly felt.
"Waiting for what?" Dream asked shakily.
"Read the book," The other Dream ordered. Dream decided it was best just to do it, that's why he was there anyways, to read the book. He flipped open to the last page and found that this wasn't about bringing people back to life... it was explaining how to kill someone. What? That makes no sense. Dream thought.
"What..." He breathed as he realized that there were two chapters. One that explained the process of bringing someone back to life, and the other on how to kill someone with no way to prevent the death. This book is more powerful than I could have ever imagined. He realized. He could almost feel the power pulsing through the pages now and he gasped.
"Now you see?" The other Dream said. "Now you know why Schlatt wants it, now you know that with this, you can do whatever you want." He hissed. Dream shook his head quickly, trying to clear the vision but it wouldn't leave. "I'm you, Dream." The other man said. "I'm the future., this is what happens when Techno returns" Dream clenched his eyes shut and waited a moment until he was sure the strange version of himself was gone, when he opened his eyes he sighed with relief and looked back down at the book. If I don't want to end up like that future me, I can't bring Technoblade back. Dream thought, breathing heavily.
Dream studied the book a bit more before standing up and heading back towards his house where Tommy and Antfrost had gone. Now that he knew what else the book could do he could kill Schlatt. He saw that Tommy was sitting on a bed, one they had been given by Sapnap, and sat down on his own, given by George.
"What did you find out?" Tommy asks.
"Lots." Dream said.
"Can I see?" Tommy asked. "I'm going to bring Techno back and-"
"No," Dream said. "We shouldn't bring him back just yet." He tried to sound casual.
"Why not? We need him as soon as possible." Tommy said. Dream glanced at the ender chest that Tommy had left out and as quickly as possible he got up and put the book inside. "Hey!" Tommy cried. "That's mine, Techno gave it to me." He said, standing up.
"And I gave it to him." Dream growled. "It's mine."
"Using your logic, it belongs to Schlatt." Tommy hissed. "Give it back."
"No," Dream said defiantly. "I'm keeping it, I can do what I want with it." He said.
"Let him have it for now," Antfrost said to Tommy quietly, his green eyes watching Dream blankly.
"Fine." Tommy snarled. "But we need to bring Techno back eventually, you have to realize that," Tommy said.
"Maybe." Dream shrugged, knowing the answer was no. He was not bringing Technoblade back, not after seeing what would happen to him if he did. "I'm going to talk to Schlatt." He said.
"Um, what? You think you can just stroll in there and talk to him like a friend?" Tommy snorted. "Idiot, he'll kill you, and then we'll never get the book back because it's in your ender chest."
"Then so be it." Dream rolled his eyes. "I just want to ask him a question." He added, turning to the door.
"You'll die!" Tommy called after him. "He's going to kill you!"
"I don't care! I just want an answer!" Dream snarled.
"Then say hi to my brothers." Tommy snarled back.
"I will." Dream hissed, walking away angrily. Why does Tommy have to be so difficult all the time? He thought, marching towards L'manfield.
"Dream, fancy seeing you here." Dream glared up at Schlatt who was sitting lazily on the big rock. Techno and Wilbur's bodies were gone now and that Dream was thankful for. He didn't know if he could handle seeing them there. "Yes, we buried them beside that cactus over there," Schlatt said, nodding to a random cactus that had been planted near the edge of the field. "Because they were such pricks." Dream said nothing, clenching his fists with rage. That little... He thought.
"I want you to answer my question." Dream said, trying to ignore the earlier comment.
"Sure, why not," Schlatt shrugged. "Ask away,"
"Why are my visions still here. You're alive and if you were causing them they should be gone." Dream said.
"Yes yes, I was causing them," Schlatt said with a grin. "Watching you go insane was hilarious. Well, until Techno fixed that problem." He added, his smile fading. "Annoying annoying..." He muttered. "Glad he's gone." He chuckled.
"Then why aren't they gone? Do you have powers or something?" Dream said stiffly.
"Nope." Schlatt snorted. "Powers? Really Dream? For a man of logic, wow..." He said with a laugh. "Nope, no powers here. The nightmares are all you." He shrugged.
"Nice try." Dream said. "Tell me the truth." He pressed.
"I did," Schlatt said. "Dream, I do a lot of bad things but lying? Have I ever lied to you?" Schlatt tilted his head innocently and Dream realized that he wasn't really a liar.
"Please, just tell me the truth." Dream hissed worriedly.
"Oh Dream" Schlatt shook his head slowly, his eyes filled with malice. "You've gone insane for real now, when I was dead it was more of a joke," Schlatt cackled. "These visions? Not me, no one is making you see these things, it's all you."
I haven't written for a while. Welp. I'm writing some other books at this time too. Have fun! :)
