Chapter 15

"Whatup nerds?" Technoblade grinned as the battle momentarily stopped as people stared up at him in amazement. He felt adrenaline coursing through his veins, maybe it was because he had just been struck by lightning, maybe it was because he was prepared to die once again for his friends and brother. 

"Techno!" Tommy cried, clawing at the dirt from underneath Skeppy. Skeppy's eyes were wide as Technoblade flew at him, faster than the other man had time to comprehend. He smacked him on the forehead and yanked the sword from his grasp, slashing his face with the blade and turning to hoist Tommy to his feet. His brother stared at him for a moment before gripping him in a fierce hug. Techno smiled and hugged him back.

"We have a battle to win, Tommy." He said after a moment as he realized Sapnap and Fundy were running at them. 

"Ok, ok," Tommy said. "I just-" He didn't say more, seeming at a loss for words. He turned around and met Fundy's blade with a vicious swipe of his own sending the other man backwards with a gasp. Technoblade spotted Dream pinned to the ground by Schlatt who was snarling foul things at him and narrowed his eyes.

"Get off, playtime's over," Techno growled, thrusting the other man off Dream who stared up at him. He saw that Dream wasn't wearing his mask and gave him a nod of approval before hoisting him to his feet before someone charged into him and he fell sideways.

"You're supposed to be dead! You should have stayed dead!" Schlatt snarled, catching Techno on the chest with his axe. Technoblade winced but forced down the pain and let out a growl as he flung Schlatt backwards once more. 

"It's your book, weirdo, you should have known." He scoffed, bringing his sword down hard on Schlatt's back. Schlatt rolled out of the way just in time to avoid another hard blow and got to his feet, his eyes sparkling with rage. 

"I have an army!" Schlatt roared, clearly blinded by rage. Technoblade grinned, noticing Tommy prepared to leap at Schlatt from behind.

"I have a brother," Techno said, leaping at the same moment as Tommy did. Schlatt was overwhelmed by the sudden attack and Tommy managed to knock the tip off one of Schlatt's horns and Techno caught his arm where his armor didn't protect him. "And some loyal friends." He added as Antfrost and Dream all left their fights to pile onto Schlatt. Techno looked around, the only person still fighting against them was Tubbo for some unknown reason while everyone else was huddled on the far end with Phil standing in front of them. They were standing protectively around George while BadBoyHalo tried to give him a potion of healing.

"Give up." Dream said to Schlatt, aiming his sword at Schlatt's throat.

"You were supposed to destroy the book!" He snarled, pointing angrily at Dream. "I saw how scared you looked, you weren't supposed to bring him back!" He added again, his eyes filled with rage. 

"S scary," Tommy muttered jokingly.

"You should be!" Schlatt hissed, eyeing Tommy.

"I'm shivering in me timbers." Technoblade snorted in a pirate accent. 

"Am I a joke to you?" he scoffed, starting to calm down a little bit. "Is this some sort of sick joke to you? You destroyed the book bringing him back! Don't you realize how terrible of a decision that was?" 

"Uh, no, because it was not a bad decision." Tommy scoffed. "He literally beat you like thirty seconds after we brought him back, and I ask, how stupid do you have to be to think that was a bad decision?" 

"Because there's one thing you don't know about the book," Schlatt said, a grin seeping into his expression. He stood up and Dream held the sword a bit closer to Schlatt's throat. "It can't be burned." With that, he kicked the sword from Dream's grasp and bolted for the podium, where Technoblade saw a small glistening book waiting on the obsidian block. His thoughts filled with dread as he flung himself after Schlatt, he had read the book, he knew what Schlatt was about to do. 

If what he read was true, when Schlatt stabbed that book with his ax or destroyed it in any way other than a lightning blast Technoblade would start dying.

"No!" he heard Dream cry. Dream must have read the book too. Techno thought. He stopped as someone flew out of a tree and landed on Schlatt's back, pinning him to the ground. Techno skidded to a halt in front of him, realizing he was only a few paces from the podium. He heard Antfrost gasp and realized with a wave of horror that Schlat had twisted, forcing the other man to land on the blade of his ax. 

"I just want you to know... that we win..." Antfrost choked out, falling sideways. There was a long gash down his chest where Schlatt's ax had penetrated and Techno clenched his teeth in anger as he noticed Schlatt was gone. Antfrost was still alive and his green eyes shone with triumph for a reason Technoblade did not know. 

"I knew this day would come." Schlatt chuckled maliciously, staring at Technoblade, Dream, and Tommy who had skidded up beside him a few moments ago. "I knew one day, I would do this and once I do, I will have won." Schlatt cackled. "You idiots! His name is still written on the books, if I do this, he'll be gone, he will have faded, that's the magic of this book. It doesn't just kill him, no no, it will wipe him from existence and you'll never see him again."

"Schlatt, please-" Tommy choked out, staring at Technoblade in horror. 

"No mercy, Tommy!" Schlatt snarled, raising his ax. Techno nodded to Tommy slowly and Tommy gripped Techno's arm in fear. He felt another hand on his arm and saw Antfrost staring up at him.

"We win..." Antfrost breathed as Schlatt's ax landed on the book, slicing it in half. Techno gritted his teeth, expecting to feel pain or dizziness but nothing happened. Techno risked opening his eyes and saw that Schlatt was looking confused. 

"Wait, what-" He gasped, staring at his hands. He was turning grey and the tips of his fingers were disintegrating into dust. "No..." He gasped, turning to Antfrost in horror. Antfrost looked up at him and let out a pained laugh, coughing up blood in the process. "You- No!" He cried, falling to his knees and trying desperately to put the book back together. "No no no!" He said as his hands vanished altogether. He met Technoblade's gaze just as his face began to vanish, defeat gleaming in his eyes. What? Technoblade thought, confused. 

"Antfrost...?" he looked down at Antfrost for an answer but his friend's green gaze was blank and distant and Techno knew he was dead. He stared at Antfrost a moment longer before getting to his feet and pulling one of the books off the stand. He let out a breath of amazement as he read the word 'Jschlatt' in clear black letters.

The book is almost done. YAY :D
