Dream clung to the rock with all his strength, hauling himself up it with a grunt of effort. He saw that Techno was currently fighting both Wilbur and Schlatt, and Dream had to say that he wasn't doing a half-bad job. He would turn and strike Schlatt before turning again to deflect a blow from Wilbur. Back and forth and back and forth.

Dream let out a snarl as he struck Wilbur on the back, sending him tumbling forwards and almost falling off the rock.

"You're back," Wilbur growled, turning around. He hesitated for a moment before whipping around and striking Schlatt, catching his leader off guard. Dream was confused as Wilbur smacked Schlatt again while he was still gathering his bearings but after a moment he realized that Wilbur was a traitor and dove past Techno. He let out a yell as he smacked Wilbur with such force that he toppled off the rock and vanished into the sea of fighting people. Then before Dream could react he was suddenly thrown off the rock again and this time when he landed he couldn't find his sword.

"All weapons down or I'll kill him!" Dream heard Schlatt cry. He saw everyone freeze as a netherite sword was flung off the rock and almost hit Bad in the head. There was no sound of fighting and Dream took a few steps back to see what was going on. Everyone seemed to be pointing a crossbow or sword at someone else and when Dream could finally see what was going on atop the rock he froze.

Techno seemed to have finally been defeated as Schlatt was aiming his ax at his throat. Techno wasn't moving but he didn't seem scared. Schlatt on the other hand looked almost scared and angry at the same time and Dream didn't know why, didn't he know he'd won? He had the rebellions best fighter at sword point and he could kill Techno if he wanted to.

"Give me the book," Schlatt snarled, turning to Techno once everyone had stopped fighting.

"I don't have the book," Techno hissed, still seeming unfazed.

"Then tell your minions to give me the book!" He ordered. Techno turned his gaze to Tommy, seeming to find his brother even though the swarm of people. "Give me the book, child or your brother dies!" Schlatt snarled, realizing Tommy had the book. Tommy took a step towards the rock and Schlatt grinned.

"No, Tommy!" Techno snarled. "No!" Tommy froze and looked up at Techno. "If you give him the book, everyone who dies here will be gone, let me die but save it. Do not give him the book."

"But-" Tommy started.

"No, Tommy," Techno said. "If you give him the book, he'll kill me anyway and then you'll never see me again," Techno growled.

"I'll keep my word," Schlatt growled. "I'll lower this sword once that book is in my hands. I swear." Schlatt said. Dream could tell he was telling the truth from where he was standing and he knew Tommy and Techno could too.

"Techno, I can't let you die, not even for this book," Tommy said.

"If you give him the book I'll never forgive you," Techno said, his gaze hardening. "If I make it off this rock alive, I'm going back to my cabin and I'll never help you again. Tommy, let me die a hero rather than the villain." Techno said. "Please." Tommy stared at his brother, his mouth half-open for a moment before he dropped his gaze. He looked back up after a moment, his eyes shiny with tears, and nodded to his brother.

"Kill him." He hissed to Schlatt. Schlatt didn't hesitate, driving the sword into Techno's gut and forcing him to his knees with a grunt. Tommy let out a gasp, even though he'd known what was about to happen. Techno turned, meeting Schlatt's gaze with a defiant expression before Schlatt yanked his sword out and kicked him, sending him toppling off the rock. "Techno!" Tommy yelled, lunging forwards through the crowd. Dream followed closely, spotting Techno on the ground where he'd landed. The gathering people had lowered their weapons and cleared out, leaving a circle for Techno to lay.

"Techno, no." Dream hissed, crouching beside him. He was still alive, he could see his chest rising and falling slightly. He looked up, his blue eyes still defiant as he turned to look at Dream and then Tommy.

"You wanted something to fight for," Techno hissed, staring at Tommy. "Here's something to fight for." He said, taking a deep breath before falling still.

"Techno?" Tommy hissed, shaking his brother's arm roughly. "No! Technoblade, get up! Please!" He begged. Dream heard footsteps and realized that half the people around them had left. He noticed another person laying awkwardly on the ground but he couldn't make out who it was right now. He was too focused on Technoblade. He can't be dead. He thought. I won't be able to do anything without him, how will we defeat Schlatt now? Dream thought.

"Please don't be dead, wake up," He begged, knowing it was too late. Tommy's head was rested on his brother's chest and he was sobbing.

"I'm so sorry!" He hissed. "I'm so sorry for everything." Dream patted Tommy on the back and forced himself to his feet, turning back to the other body. The other man was still alive and Dream hurried to his side.

"I've..." He coughed. "I've officially won the prize for most deaths." He choked out.

"I'm sorry Will." Dream muttered. He could see that Wilbur's neck was broken and he was slowly dying. "You tried."

"I tried." He agreed. "I don't want to be brought back." He added.

"Why?" Dream said. Wilbur smiled, he didn't seem to be in any pain and Dream knew he was already practically dead.

"I don't deserve it," he said. "Tell Tommy and Tubbo that they were the best friends a guy like me could have asked for." He said, closing his eyes. Dream nodded.

"Alright," He sighed. "Bye Wilbur." he watched as Wilbur slowly stopped breathing and sighed, turning around to see Tommy was still crumpled ontop of Techno. He hadn't realized that both his brothers had just died and Dream wasn't sure he could bring himself to tell him.

"Dream, we need to bring him back." Tommy pushed himself to his feet shakily but then noticed Wilbur and fell back to his knees. "Why is this happening to me!" He cried. "Why him? Why them!" Dream shook his head. All I can say is I'm sorry, and I know that will never be enough.
