2 years after
Great. 2 more years, I'm outta here. Yay! I've never been in a family since my parents died, and I don't really want to. But if I would got a chance, I would totally agree.
I take my food and sit down in the cafeteria, in my usual spot with the cool kids. We are the same group since 2 years before.
Luke, the one who was almost as smart as me, and he usually studied in detention too, Damien, the one who was hitting on everybody because he sometimes waned attention, and Taller, the one who was the most muscular. I usually trained fighting with him, because he knew it very well, and was willingly helping me.
And then there's Hanna, the one who needed attention, and Brian, the one who was the most cute one, and I, just hot.
-"So, we're all sixteen now, what should we do?" Brian asked, eating her food, probably thinking about guys. We all were the same, since we met, pissing off teachers, and getting detention, all the damn time. And we were so busy doing that, we didn't even got time to go to parties, or get drinks, or smoke, we just came together and talked all night.
And within these years, I love my friends. We are closer than we were before, and I'm happy about it. I finally smile after all those years with the youngest kids, with guilt eating me from inside.
Now I'm happy. -"Our usual party? At my room seven, is that good everybody?" Luke asked, like he always did. We usually had our parties in his room, since in the rooms were two beds, and he's lucky his roommate is Taller.
-"Okay." I said. -"But what about pranking teachers again? I won't miss it."
They started laughing so hard, that I couldn't hold my laughter in anymore, and I started laughing too.
-"Fine, but just because we're friends." Taller answered, he always agreed with me, well almost always.
-"Count us all in." Brian always answered for everybody, always causing the attention draw to her. She was annoying, but we have always stuck together, and I don't want that to change. Maybe before 2 years I thought I would never open up to someone, now I changed my mind.
I kind of opened up to them, we all did. We are really close now, because of that. -"Earth to Simone! Were you even listening?" Ahh, that annoying Brian.
-"What?" I wasn't happy being snapped out of my thoughts, and wasn't afraid of showing it.
-"Someone wants to get child again." Brian asked sighing at me. I placed my head in my hands, and my elbow on the table.
-"Let me guess, in our age?" I asked back sarcastically, knowing really well that there is no chance for us to get adopted.
The speakers who were all over the whole building, turned on with a crack. They usually were used to tell information, and also to call to their cabinet.
-"Simone, come to my cabinet, now."
I furrowed a brow and looked at my friends. They smiled, and I left the table in almost happy mood.I made my way upstairs, to her office, and knocked, immediately opening the doors not waiting for an answer.
-"Probably waned to see me." The principal gestured for me to sit down.
She smiled at me, making herself comfortable in her chair. -"There's a family in the guest room, they want to see you. Behave good, and make good first impression. Understood?"
I sweetly smile at her, knowing really well that nobody would want me in a family. -"Sure."
She leads me outside her cabinet, to the guest room besides it. She opens the door, while I go inside. The door closes behind me and I sweetly smile at the family, not really caring.
I sit on the couch opposite side of them. They are three, older woman, then her husband, and I guess their son.-"Simone." The woman smiles.
-"My name is Regina, this is my husband Arch, and our son, Neil." She introduced, and I nodded.
-"Nice to meet you all." My smile fell, and I didn't know what to say. I've never really talked to family before, just to my mom and dad... Who are now dead. That's just great.
-"So how long have you been here?" I didn't like her question, not at all, but good first impression, right?
-"Eleven years." I still answered, making a fake smile, and watching her fall back with dissatisfied face.
-"Why so long?"
I furrowed my brow, looking at her with disbelief on my face. -"Are you asking why my parents are dead?" She shook her head.
-"No not that I was asking, I mean, didn't you had mentor families or..." I let down my brow, not really wanting to talk anymore.
-"No I didn't had any family since my parents are dead. Nobody wants a teenager." I shrugged, and fall back on couch.
-"Well, we want a teenager." She looked like she waned to inspire me to do something, but I couldn't tell what.
-"Sure you do, why else would you be here then." I whisper. I'm not stupid. They would never take me, I'm not that worthy.
There was an awkward silence between them, while I just tried to figure out their faces.
Reginas face was facing the wall somewhere besides me, she didn't looked at me.
Arch's face was blank, I couldn't get anything out of it.
Neils face was completely turned towards me, and out gazes met, as we stared at each other.
-"What?" I frowned. -"Do I have something on my face or what?"He chuckled, and shook his head. -"No, no, you're just beautiful."
-"Just beautiful? No, I'm hot." I let out a little smirk, but I didn't really thought I'm hot, it's just what my friends said I am.
Now Regina started smiling too, but I didn't know what's the matter for that. I always talk like this, well, saying something, and everybody laughs, and yeah. I'm not used to that, thought.
-"Sure you are. So Elma told us you're very smart, is that so?" Elma, is principal. Yeah, weird name, but it is.
-"Maybe." Was I smart? Nah.
-"Okay, I think it's time for us to go." They got up from their seat and I did the same, just much slower. -"It was nice to meet you Simone."
Regina held out a hand. I chuckled nervously. -"I'm not really fan of touching."
-"Oh, I'm sorry." I nodded, and they finally went outside, trough the guest doors. Those doors led to outside of this place, but they weren't for us to use. If, big if, they adopt me, I'm gonna go trough those doors, but otherwise, I'm never getting out.
